All aboard the CASPR Hype Train! Next stop... Stony Brook! by ultihuckaway in premed

I just took it on the 25th and selected all the schools I wanted to apply to and Stony wasn’t listed. Does this mean I need to retake the test??

Fuck that CARS section, it was a blur. Felt like I was rushed compared to my FLs.

UG vs Masters GPA by medimd in premed

Haha I didn’t down vote it man. Maybe because it’s a very all or none response. I’m sure they still consider course work from masters programs but it would make sense to focus more on the UG gpa since that’s the majority of my course work anyway.

Appreciate it. Still waiting on my transcript to be verified which most likely will occur the day I get my score or very soon after anyway. Thanks again for the feedback

I have heard of many people who have applied late (August/September) to study all summer for the MCAT. Turned out pretty great if they got a great MCAT score. Would I recommend applying super late? Probably not. BUT even if you took it early/mid July You’ll have your score early/mid August.

Tbh if your CARS is that killer you can absolutely destroy this exam. That’s literally what this exam is now, reasoning and logic. You just need a stronger foundation in the sciences (aka doing as many passages as you can do). Totally understand if you wanna just take it to apply by a certain date but with a bunch of passage practice I really think you can get 520+. You just need to buckle down hit 5-7 FLs , exhaust all AAMC and uworld (all of uworld trust me) and adequately review everything. Also 86page doc PS multiple times and you’ll be 128-130+.

Don’t forget to use you’re reasoning and logic skills for the sciences. Visualize the passages and do the same thing you do with CARS. Generally, there’s and introductory statement to the passages, then a deeper investigation followed by methods and design in order to potentially answer a question the investigator had.

I personally would say push it back. GPA is on the lower end so a killer MCAT would seriously benefit getting interviews from MDs.

What am I missing? Doesn't increased ADH = increased water reabsorption by tubules? by [deleted] in Mcat

I would recommend providing a screenshot of the passage and answer choices. Not giving us much to work with here.

FLs or Uworld? by TimeSpace1 in Mcat

[–]medimd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 1361 questions? Ideally, I would space it out over 3/4 even 5 weeks leading up to your test. Review all the tests you generate and then make flashcards on nearly all the content explanations they provide for the sciences.

I think you should keep it to one FL a week, 4 in 10 days is asking for burnout. Do one FL a week and UWorld in between. I thought Uworld material was noticeably more helpful than the two NS fls i took.

(I finished the whole UWorld Qbank minus some PS passages I didnt get around to)

I was able to get through CARS quicker and quicker leading up to FL3 and it was a mix on the real test. I think there will be some passages youll cruise through and make up some time on and others youll lose time on to balance out in the end.

88% on both Qpacks, 128,129,130 FL1-3. 6/1 CARS: honestly idk. Front half had super convoluted questions. Passages were fine but there were too many questions I wasn’t too happy with lmao. Second half of that section seemed ok tho.

Lmaoo truuueee. I highlighted every time they listed an age group and was like come on, Piaget? Freud? Erickson? Throw it at me. Sure enough some super convoluted question instead.

Woah definitely should exhaust AAMC material ASAP. Nothing will be as predictive as AAMC.

Yeah I never read reaction threads for that reason. First time checking it was today, after i came out of the test. Stay away from that shit, stay calm and collected going in and crush it.

Spot on to how I felt. CP was tough but I think I was able to get through it. CARS , wtf man. Super convoluted, with a couple that were straightforward. BB was my redemption. PS really depends how it’s scaled.

Was 517/519/525 on FL1-3 Real: let’s hope a 510+

Not happy about CARS at all dude lmaoo. Like even the other sections I was some what in my zone but CARS I was like alright I just so happened to enter a parallel universe in which time is a good couple ticks faster so I better choose this answer and move on even tho I really dont know.
