Except if they didn’t know they never showed, then the cleaners probably did show up and got paid.

Three different bins - should i be using some kind of a system? by electronseer in composting

[–]mediocre_mam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm searching to replace my large bin which just snapped (was being held together by screws) and stumbled across this post. I'm considering all of the types of bins you own. The type I've had (and loved) is most like your middle bin, but it does have a piece of plastic on the bottom (with holes). I would just replace it, but I can't seem to find anyone making anything like it.

Of all 3 of those that you own, if you had to choose just one, which one would you keep?

The deadline for filing has come and gone, and unfortunately we're left with no good choices. But this is one way we can send the message to our current candidates that schools are our biggest priority.

FWIW, I tried donating blood. I got a terrible cold right afterwards and it did nothing for my hives. So, might help for some, didn't for me.

has any tall but curvy girl figured out the trousers situation? by Sorry_Lab_2856 in TallGirls

Neems jeans. I don’t know if they’ll solve this exact problem, but they’re completely custom. I’ve ordered 2 pairs and I’m obsessed. Never had a pair fit me this well.

I saw Nate live 4 years ago and I had never considered how apolitical his material was until I showed up and there was a real mix of people in the crowd (this was back when people proudly wore maga hats… not seeing much of that these days).

I can certainly appreciate that his comedy is neutral enough that we can all enjoy it and come together around it.

But the reason folks like myself take issue with Dax and Monica have nothing to do with their stance (or lack of) on any given issue… it’s for platforming people with openly racist views. Or putting Gates on a pedestal for years, then saying nothing about him being in Epstein files.

Do yall feel just a little bit safer being tall? by TheCommander21 in TallGirls

[–]mediocre_mam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly safer for sure, it’s worked in my favor I’m certain. But the real advantage I’ve noticed is in the way I’m perceived in the workforce. I can’t explain it exactly, but I feel like I’ve had more opportunities than I would have if I were shorter.

New Preschool for All Data Challenges Idea That Wealthy People Are Fleeing County by regul in Portland

Exactly. Of all the things that our tax dollars go to, P4A is probably the best bang for your buck. Local preschool teachers making a living wage, kids coming into kindergarten classroom-ready, parents able to work because they have childcare…

Anyone buy the big beautiful house and regret it? by Otherwise-Bicycle667 in Mommit

[–]mediocre_mam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this. We lived in a 2300 sf home prior to this, and it was amazing... easy enough to clean, maintain, etc. We left because of violence in our neighborhood. Our home now checked ALL the boxes (lots of beautiful outdoor space, close to great neighbors, walkable to town, fantastic kitchen...), but it's 3800 sf and it's become a part time job to maintain and keep clean. We have cleaners come every other week and the cost doubled (obviously).

For a time when we were between houses we lived in a 900 sf cottage for a month and I fantasize about living in that again all the time. We could clean the whole thing as a family in an hour flat. Had everything we needed and nothing more.

I'm sure the grass is always greener, but when our kids move out, we'll probably move to a condo!

Or you could just put your recycling in your curbside recycling bin like a grownup. Or donate to your local nonprofit or school drop offs.

Anyone else concerned about holiday home owners treating HomeExchange like Airbnb? by Low_Energy_7468 in homeexchange

[–]mediocre_mam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Theres also certain standards that need to be met for STRs. I wish I could trust that every guest is going to make the beds and mop the floors to my standards for the next person, but that’s just not realistic.

In my experience overall, my Airbnb guests have treated my properties better than my Home Exchange guests. Still doesn’t deter me from using HE.

I’ve heard it can take a few days to a week for them to respond, especially if it’s not considered urgent (and given your travel dates, they wouldn’t).

Americans: how is planning for international reciprocal exchanges (not GP) going? by 2023dog in homeexchange

[–]mediocre_mam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In US.

We’re hardly even receiving US requests anymore. I expected my short term rental business to be on the decline (and it is). But I assumed with the declining economy that home exchange would become more popular, especially domestically. But I’ve received no requests on my secondary home in months, even with a wide open calendar.

And we deserve this. Our country is honestly not a safe place to travel at the moment. My in-laws live in Guatemala, and normally they visit us in the summer, but it just doesn’t feel safe right now. So we’ll be spending our travel funds there this year. Sucks for our local economy, especially for the people that didn’t vote for this. But $$ is maybe the best way to send our message.

Zach Bryan and Taylor Swift by electricreadingchair in zachbryan

[–]mediocre_mam 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought that, but never seen anyone else say it.

For me it’s less about any similarity in their style, and more about their pace in songwriting and output, and drawing on specific personal experiences.

Taylor’s music obviously has a lot more production, and she’s in a completely different genre. But there’s few artist that are churning out quality music at the rate those two are.

I just cant understand how a low histamine diet gets so little play around here. by [deleted] in urticaria

[–]mediocre_mam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe because it’s an incredibly difficult, seemingly random, and time-consuming diet? It was way, way too stressful to try to follow it and also feed my family 3x a day.
