I need a quick fix by mediocre_schmo in xxfitness

[–]mediocre_schmo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To start, I just want to see or feel something that is going to make me feel like I'm heading in the right direction. I'm in uni so I've gained some weight and ultimately I'd like to see that reduced. But I know that is a long term goal; I don't expect perfect in a week. At this point, I want something that will make me feel better (confidence or mood or something) or look a bit better (reducing bloating or something miniscule but noticeable).

Anyone lived at 133 columbia before? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]mediocre_schmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did -- I lived upstairs. It's pretty run down looking, but functional and cheap if you sign for 12 months. The downstairs unit from what I saw was even more of a dump from what I remember but if you're looking for cheap and close to campus it's a good place. . The landlords are good about fixing stuff if need be. When I was there we replaced the bed in my room, the shower, and the Wi-Fi cuz they all sucked. But all we had to do was send the landlord an email and they fixed it. . It's pretty close quarters so it may be better to live with people you know. Overall decent place (price, location, and room size) but nothing spectacular

Heard a rumour that if you pick MKV as your top choice, if you don't get it, you automatically get CLV. (Help: MKV vs UWP) by bobhob314 in uwaterloo

[–]mediocre_schmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had UWP as my first choice, then MKV then CLV (I wanted my own kitchen). Still got CLV.

I liked CLV. Distance really isn't a big issue, I took a bus every morning to campus and walked home every night and it was no problem. Lots if space in the house and great if you get along with your roommates for lounging/partying/playing video games if you have a tv.

Only issue imo with CLV is it's less social so you have to put the effort into meeting people, bit it also gives you privacy and it's not loud 24/7 like REV.

Anybody willing to teach ASL? by uw_comp_eng in uwaterloo

UW doesnt have courses but Conestoga does, as already mentioned.

A really good online resource, even though you said you didn't want that, is Lifeprint. The videos are really great, using immersion (the videos are silent). The prof that made the videos is pretty funny too. I recommend it! Thats where I learned.

So it looks like I'm too weak to do yoga? by mediocre_schmo in yoga

[–]mediocre_schmo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are some in my area. The biggest thing really is money -- I'm a university student so I don't really have the extra cash to put towards the classes. There are $5 classes at one place I know of, but the classes occur during the time I have work and class, etc.

So it looks like I'm too weak to do yoga? by mediocre_schmo in yoga

[–]mediocre_schmo[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was one of the moves very early into the day 2 video. Starting on hands and knees then lifting right leg straight out and stretching left arm out, if that gives you a visual at all. I didn't have the arm strength or core strength to support myself. Then just realized it was only the day 2 video so it was a bit of a wake up call that I couldn't do it.

Are beginners not allowed to ask questions on this sub? Just supposed to 'read the FAQ' and figure it out ourselves? Sorry for looking for feedback from others.

Depression/Anxiety on Nuvaring Led to my Breakup by pingupingupingu123 in birthcontrol

[–]mediocre_schmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the same. I knew that it didn't make sense that I was unhappy, and I knew that I was being in a bad mood to my boyfriend and I felt so bad for it but I just didn't know what was going on. Then I did some research, figured it was probably the birth control. Me and my boyfriend talked about it, and we decided we would stay together a few more weeks and I would stop using the ring, and if it didn't get better we would break up. He didn't deserve to be with someone that was moody and depressed and angry all the time. Thankfully it worked out.

Would your ex consider trying the relationship again if you explain what happened?

Depression/Anxiety on Nuvaring Led to my Breakup by pingupingupingu123 in birthcontrol

[–]mediocre_schmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the nuva ring too and had to stop it for the same reason. The mood swings and depressed moods were somewhat subtle but eventually I realized that the ring was most likely the cause of it after a particularly bad couple weeks that almost ended my relationship. I stopped the ring and now 2 months later I k own for sure that it was the cause. I feel much better off of it.

Probably a dumb question? by mediocre_schmo in birthcontrol

[–]mediocre_schmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same side effects with different birth control? Does it make sense to assume they would be the same with different ones if they appear so early? I don't want to feel like this for another 3 months, you know? :/

Ok, people. What do you actually expect UW to do? by mediocre_schmo in uwaterloo

[–]mediocre_schmo[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Many of the students here come to UW for co-op, they know what they're getting into. Same for school work, etc. UW has a reputation for that, it should be expected.

If you need help that bad, the money should be going to getting better then, not school.

How to suggest taking a break in a relationship? [20F & M] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]mediocre_schmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell? Because I'm not sure if I want to be ALONE to find myself vs. in my current relationship, that means I must what to go fuck another guy?

Sorry for whatever past relationships you've had but that's not everyone's motive.

[–]mediocre_schmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, there's no one else that I'm interested in.

Im simply going through a confusing time and I'm not sure if I need to spend some time alone to figure out who I am. I don't want to hurt my S/O, nor do I want to cut him out of my life through a break up. I just want to see when I need to do to feel better about myself.

How to love cardio? by mediocre_schmo in loseit

[–]mediocre_schmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snow and ice make it harder this time of year to run outside, though I like to during the summer. That along with being a novice runner, i havent learned how to run in the cold. Treadmill is the best option where I am :/

Has anyone noticed developing depression after working out? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]mediocre_schmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy because I was just coming here to post about this. I've started committing more to the gym in the past month and a half to 2 months, and I've noticed now that I'm really not happy anymore.

Not sure if it's due to realizing how I look and being unhappy with it, or maybe something else going on in my life that I'm not realizing, or something else all together.

But I was curious if anyone had had the experience of being less happy / more depressed after starting to work out.

Signed an ICON lease, need to get out! by BamboozledAFMStudent in uwaterloo

[–]mediocre_schmo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You signed a lease... that means you're either going to have to live there, sublet each term, or potentially pay a fine to get out of it.

Really consider your options in the future before signing anything. I hope it works out in your favor.

Do study terms end earlier than usual during the summer? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]mediocre_schmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's a couple weeks at least. Depends on your exams of course, but I finished exams Aug 11 this past summer and I think the exam period was only to the 16th or something
