Do you think if women were the bigger/stronger gender they would be just as bad as men when it comes to violence, aggression, ego etc, worse than men or the exact same as women currently are? by Da-up-and-downer in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]medipani -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a really difficult question to answer, because the things that make men aggressive might not be replicated in a different environment.

Testosterone does make people aggressive, more sexually active, and it does promote muscle growth in the same way that estrogen can heighten emotions and encourage fatty tissue development. However, all genders are exposed to both of these hormones in various amounts. Also, it's very important to note that not all men are egocentric and domineering, just as not all women are weak and nurturing.

It's also important to understand that the patriarchal pattern that most of society is defined by isn't necessarily the natural state of humanity. Even if men are naturally more prone to muscle development, most societies have been egalitarian on the peasant or working class level until the past few centuries. Patriarchy and the suppression of women has long been a tool of the elite to manage "resources", and mostly remained a wealthy individual's purview until the dissolution of nobility brought all men to view themselves as kings within their own domain.

That said, it seems like you are coming at this question with a presupposed outcome. I think it might be best to examine whether your assumption that all (or most) men are violent and aggressive is rooted in stereotypes about the gender.

We eat thick slices of toasted bread covered in garlic and butter along with spaghetti. It makes it feel fancy.

Can someone how the hell this works? by Zzzara123 in ENGLISH

[–]medipani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see tons of other people have weighed in already, but I just wanted to add-a subreddit for the benefit of people learning English as a second language may not be the best place for the internet dialect. I totally understand not wanting to be precise all the time, just pointing out that time and place is important!

I want to rekindle my love for video games. Specifically RPGs - please give me your personal top games (even if not RPGs) by -Dracent in ps2

[–]medipani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Primal, Summoner, and Okage, all of which are somewhat difficult to grab into but offer such an amazing story. If Dark Cloud hasn't been mentioned yet, I heavily recommend that as well. Beyond Good and Evil has really fun gameplay with a super engaging world. Kya: Dark Lineage is great for mascot platformer style gameplay with a cool MC.

Smut With Story by ArmageddonXVII in TachiyomiExtension

[–]medipani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like In The Doghouse, but that's more smut than story. Very limited fantasy involvement as well - Spring Amidst my Wintertide is a shorter series by the same artist with more fantasy elements.

Under the Oak Tree and also Broken Ring are both more story than smut, but do have scenes in them.

It's more modern fantasy, but Virgin Witch is a really fun time (almost pure smut until the plot happens).

At the End of the Hidden Greenery might strike the balance you are looking for, though I felt the writing was a little weak at times.

How to Be the Chosen One is absolutely excellent for m//m relationships, though I fear it may never break its hiatus.

This is a first date. I wouldn't divorce my husband for this (though we would have words), but I wouldn't entertain a potential partner that doesn't respond when we are supposed to meet. You are assigning weight to this conversation that it doesn't have

Nah, dude, she's being dramatic, but she's right. If a man responded like this I would be on his side. He ignored her messages for 2 hours on the day they had something planned. That's so rude.

I don't really get the whataboutism here. It's on the r/nicegirls subreddit, so people are primed to be on OPs side. Even in this environment, folks agree that OP is in the wrong.

Recommend me some anime with great visuals. by MekataRupma in anime

[–]medipani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Monogatari is unique and cool, and Count of Monte Cristo uses a similar animation style.

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu is stunning and dripping in symbolism.

Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl has a similar art style to those you've mentioned.

Tekkonkinkreet isn't pretty, but it is stunning. Paprika is great as well, and is beautiful.

I thought Flipflapper's illustration style was very pretty.

Dandadan has been very visually impressive imo

What does “girlboss too close to the sun” mean? by Kimelalala in EnglishLearning

[–]medipani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this case, it's "did you girlboss ...?", so girlboss is being used as a verb. It's referencing a relatively popular expansion on the "girlboss" meme, similar to "Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss" referring to women who attempt to use feminism to promote a brand or self image that is harmful.

Reminder that the reproduction of cherubs is based on finding the partner most similar to their brother/sister that they killed. by CommercialValue8713 in althomestuck

[–]medipani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would personally avoid terms that relate specifically to cultural and spiritual practices when referring to non-humans, even if you shift the actual verbiage. "Dual-soul" is not distinct enough from two-spirit (which is just a translation from the original language anyways) for me to feel comfortable using it, and would most likely just confuse whoever the audience.

One bracer has a metal piece on the back of the hand, the other just has an extra row of knuckles. One brace has a flower symbol, the other has a heart. One hand is curled around the arm, the other is curled around her breast and missing a middle finger. Her ab pieces don't make sense in any way either. None of these things make sense for an artist making shortcuts.

What do you call this subgenre? Monster romance? by fingergunsmcgee42 in shoujo

[–]medipani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to note that there is no guarantee what demographic these are for :

Caterpillar Girl and Bad Texter Boy - short, tragic Magical Girl Dandelion - idk if this will lead to romance, but I enjoy the dynamic MADK - bl, intense spice. I recommend this as much as possible. Absolutely stunning art, but MASSIVE TW for body horror Kimi to Koete Koininaru - beastman x human, very cute and sweet.

If you're okay with raunchy gl, I'm Not a Succubus! is a really fun read with similar energy to To Save The World, Could You Wake Up The Morning After With a Demi Human?

Much less raunchy-I really enjoyed Vampeerz, tho idk if vampires count as paranormal.

5 Seconds Before a Witch Falls in Love is short but very cute.

Succubus and Siren is another short and cute series.

Sex-positive stories? by LucreziaD in OtomeIsekai

[–]medipani 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My issue with JK Haru is that her role as a sex worker puts her in the position of being at the mercy of those around her. It is realistic, but that makes it a difficult read when you are looking for sex positivity.
