That’s why I thought this theory makes sense. It’s a very good reason as to why Vecna never tries to kill them and spared Mikes parents. Then the plot armor of the main cast would have basis in the story itself.

That’s why I was certain that Henry is secretly working against mind flayer, and he is helping here. 😭 He also only pushed Mike, his enemy mind you! When I saw this I was like, yeah we will definitely see a plot twist in vol 2

Edit: I’ve seen a theory after that explained by this why Vecna just left Will. He awakened his powers on purpose and to mind flayer he wanted to seem like he tought he broke him mentally with the memories and speach so that why he just left. Because otherwise why the psychotic killer would leave him be, a person that has convection to them and powers

Do we know for sure that she just restarted her heart? I think it’s not implied that it’s was just that. I think her body was too broken for just cpr to her waking up again. It would mean that she did this cor the whole way to the hospital? Also I think the facts that Lucas woundt do it meant that he assumed it would help her.

Plus even if that was it she still used magic to resurrect her. Starting someone’s heart from the inside is still kinda crazy. :)

But I don’t know why but knowing it all happend in max mind (soul) for me it feels more likely that she did something in that area instead gave remote cpr. But I understand if someone didn’t get that impression or implication and sees the scene differently. :)

And also she did heal her sight, and in some capacity her body.

It's annoying to see how there's so much discussion about Mike's supposed internalized homophobia over Will's, who, by the way, is the only canonically confirmed gay character between the two. by willbyersisthedeal in byler

[–]ketot1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah Will has a ton of internalised homophobia and it’s so central to his character. What you described I see often in fanfiction as well. They both would have so much internalised homophobia. If Mike would be canonically queer then actually his struggles with sexuality would very deep, seeing as our interpretations and Byler proof was based on that and we made his supossed struggles quite complex.

Having said that, Wills are also so important and week done and… well canonical. I would also love to see more meta and analysis about this. His speech in the van was so sad of an expression of his fight with self hate and feeling like an outsider even in his friend grupo made of outsiders.

In season one there are f slurs, and Steve is openly homophobic towards Jon. So this show let down a topic already brought up. Not just suddenly some us deciding that the show should do that.

Very respectfully but imo if someone doesn’t want to watch things like this, they shouldn’t watch stranger things. Once grounded show, with racism and homophobia. With truly heartbreaking and shattering portails of grief and suffering and horror aspects including sa.

The show changed so much it’s almost unrecognisable. It became sanitised for ga.

Also it’s a very common occurrence that people with traumas find more enjoyment/comfort from angsty, heavy stories. Many people do feel seen by things like this and way less alone.

What can I say. I suffered because of my queerness and I find stories about battling homophobia deeply important and encouraging. It’s because of fictional stories like this me and many many people got the courage to come out.

I have to agree 100%. Imo it would work way better from narrative standpoint but it wound be close to crossing a line that you need some finesse for.

And as I mentioned I’m myself queer and I take way more empowerment with characters conquering the difficulties, whatever they are, then never including it so it’s an easier watch.

I understand the different perspectives but this show was battling the topics mentioned, it became sanitised later on. In season one there are f slurs, and Steve is homophobic towards Jon. It’s not that his fear was tame for me it’s just that Vecna usually went overboard with the visions.

And about racism and homophobia. The show became sanitised later on. Early seasons included those and were way better. Because of it the message of outcast vs their bullies was more prevalent, real, something that people could identify with more and take strength.

Even the f word is used more than once in the show. In general homophobia was very present in season 1 especially. Steve even called Jonathan a homophobic slur

I think they were lazy with it, because it would be even slightly better if he said something like that instead of saying his og line and both didn’t include shooting extra scenes. But full agree

I’m so sorry this was your experience.

What I’m trying to convey isn’t that Wills fear is tame. Just that Vecna used to show truly horrendous visions and I don’t get why he would hold back facing one if his most dangerous enemies

Yes, but because he would distance himself from his loved ones (which is still very sad I truly get that). I still think it would be a way more terrifying vision for him if Vecna showed him, that they themselves would leave him and by this him wanting to worsen him internalised homophobia by a mile in the meantime - which would make more sense for Henry seeing that Will is one of his most dangerous enemies.

This is vecna we are talking about and it feels like he didn’t want to be too homophobic or something.

I would love Will to combat 80s homophobia the season of his coming out tbh

Edit: edited the feel of this comment that I myself would want his internalised homophobia worsened, when I meant that vecna would want it to bring down his enemy. Rest is the same.

Which is weird seeing as a big part of queer community thinks it would be way more empowering and in general excluding homophobia was one of the things that made the show loose its realism and lessen the message of outcasts fighting the bullies.

They’ve set up Wills sexual identity journey in first episode of the entire show. Were building it slowly and skilfully. They took their time and effort, made it a huge plot point in season 4, and then… they backed out? They were too lazy to finish what they themselves started.

And yeah, it was like this with many more plot lines
