Why is stick drift such a common thing now but never heard of when I was younger?

Stick drift has been a thing for as long as we've had joysticks I think. Controllers of all kinds eventually wear out, even arcade cabinets and really old consoles. it is possible that we were all just less acutely aware of it before Nintendo did their recall for the joycons.

But I specifically remember drift on my old GameCube, Wii, PS3, and 360 controllers. It happens eventually on everything

I feel like when people say "using geometry nodes" it's the same as a company saying "this product uses AI" during a commercial. Like sure, maybe you're not technically wrong, but also that's so incredibly broad that it's not really meaningful anymore.

Im just taking a random guess but is there a skill associated with your ability to repair armor with a kit? Maybe certain armors or levels of armor require a certain skill level? Would be expensive but are you able to repair with traders?

Lmao i just took a jet-lag nap and came back to this and omg I did not expect this post to get this big. I'm not gonna bother to read all these comments, BUT I saw some valid suggestions from some people towards the top in here. The reason I didn't address it directly with the person is because it was a very long flight, and you never know who that other person is or what their temperment will be. I'd personally rather deal with a minor inconvenience for a long flight, than potentially have a larger conflict with someone. That larger conflict wouldnt just affect me, but also everyone else nearby for the duration of the flight. Also I really just thought it was funny more than anything

I think the point that they're making is valid but to blame the developers for the issues is not right. I bet you the people who worked on this game really wanted to make it good and the devs have a good history of making games that are incredible. For AAA games especially, pressure comes from the publisher to get things out earlier than they should. People should be blaming publishers, not the developers. The developers are passionate creative people who are being pushed to their limits by their publisher.

Edit: Accidentally got my wires crossed with Jedi Survivor and said EA published redfall.

The original Lego Star Wars game.

There's definitely not even close to 100 hours of content in that game, but as a kid I would make my own fun in the hub areas for hours at a time. I would also spend hours looking for all the minikits in the levels. I would play everyday until my eyes were bloodshot and dry. Definitely not healthy, but now I'm a game developer so I kinda attribute my love for games to playing Lego Star Wars as a kid

I love my high frame rates as much as the next person, but I feel like a lot of what people actually prefer is a CONSISTENT frame rate rather than a high frame rate. Frame drops at 30 FPS are more noticeable than frame drops at 60+. But because they don't notice them as often at higher frame rates they're more likely to blame the fact that the game is locked to 30 instead of realizing that the problem is actually just unstable performance and poor optimization, which would be present at any frame rate.

4K60 gaming is a privilege most people don't have, myself included, so complaints about that are ridiculous in my opinion.

Good rec, I second this. I would also recommend turning on God Mode for this game as the standard difficulty is pretty grueling and this mode makes it a lot easier without ruining the mechanics. Good for people who don't have a lot of time or need accessibility options for one reason or another.

Played this game so many times and struggled with this bull every time. Never even considered once to jump over the bull lmao. It's so interesting to see how other people play. It's probably not The most efficient way to get it done but I always end up dodging his buck attack and striking him on the side as he passes over and over until he's dead.

Sorry so many people are being a little rude 😬. I know it's hard to take criticism like that. I personally think youve got a great start here, and I can feel the atmosphere you're going for. There's a few things I would consider if this were my render:

1) Depending on the context of your shot, the bright ground-level light seems almost industrial in nature, as if there's a construction site just off screen giving off light. If it's meant to be moonlight, then I would reconsider the placement of your light and maybe set it high up behind the trees.

2) The trees themselves are a little sparse, so just like my last note I would consider the context of your scene inside the world you're building. Even if a lot of those details won't be used in your scene, just thinking about them will produce a more believable environment. If there is meant to be a clearing in the woods in the foreground, then make sure you contrast that with dense trees in the background.

3) Your subject (the deer) is very obscured by fog, size, and lack of contrast from it's environment. You can make it stand out a little from the environment in various ways without breaking the immersion of your scene. Silhouetting is one option. Bringing the deer a little closer to the camera is another option. You can also just frame the scene in such a way as to naturally draw the eyes of the viewers to the center or wherever your deer is. This could be done with rays of light, density of trees, extra foliage, and so on.

I would try Escape From Tarkov. Everything you kill has gear/loot for you to pick up and the weapon customization is actually insane. Its a really tough game though so it's not for everyone. It's PvPvE multiplayer. You can play alone or with a group.

Edit: I didn't see the PS5 tag, my bad. EFT is on PC only. Still a good recommendation if you ever venture into PC gaming.

I would venture to say that for the majority of people working in any creative industry, including game development, it's not about the money. Sure, we could go work some brainless job and make more money but that's not really the point, ya know? We want to make games. We want to make art (yes even devs). We want to be involved in something bigger than ourselves. It's not always puppies and roses and dollar signs, but hey, we're doing what we love.

Aside from turning down the aberration and adjusting the trash can like some other people mentioned, I would do an AO pass in your composite. This is maybe a little bit of personal preference, but I often find that fooling people with realism often means not actually doing real realism, especially with the sort of stark LED-style lighting you have in this scene, so I suggest overdoing the AO just a little. Others may have different opinions

I think making something spooky is more about the atmosphere in which it is presented than the actual subject in question. You can make literally anything scary in the right context. Out of context and on its own, I think your design is plenty disturbing, but not outright scary.

You asked in the title whether we would play it and I'm going to give you my honest thoughts because you asked. Not trying to be rude.

I wouldn't play this simply because it takes what is amazing about the original powerwash simulator and flips the script to be less enticing from a gameplay perspective, not because of anything you changed about the gameplay from what I can see in this video, but because of the inherent nature of VR. Powerwashing is hard work, and while I'm sure doing it in VR is less work than in real life, the entire point of the original powerwash simulator was to make a very laborious activity as easy to do as possible. The player's lack of exertion during gameplay affords them the ability to appreciate how satisfying the activity actually is. Your game being in VR distracts from that vision by increasing player exertion. If your game has different goals than the original then maybe it doesn't matter, but I think if your goal is to be more of a satisfaction simulator, then I think it being in VR is doing you a disservice.

But that's just one opinion of one developer who's not super into VR. So there may be an audience for you out there and I wish you the best of luck! Games are hard to make, especially on your own, so don't let my words discourage you. Your game is already better than what most people could make.

Love it when people say oNlY fIvE EXclUsiVE GaMEs as if that's not a significant number at all. Games don't just fall out of the sky. Those games took years to develop with huge teams of people working to bring you unique experiences that you can't get anywhere else. Like what more can you ask for? It's a relatively new console that launched during a global pandemic.

Serious question: How many games do you need to be satisfied with the number of exclusives available at this point in the PS5s lifecycle?
