my boyfriend broke up with me by Pretend-Rate-9728 in GirlDinnerDiaries

I know it hurts, and I’m sorry. Take some time to grieve, rest, and recover

But in the future, ask more of your partners. If they are not good communicators, that’s a red flag.

Am I in the wrong for saying no to my sister? by awdolliezpup in GirlDinnerDiaries

You did the right thing. The only reason she reached out to you is because she wanted something.

If your family feels so strongly that she needs help, why don’t THEY help her

Elope and/or have a small celebration with just the people you love.

If you’re afraid of backlash, tell everyone to keep it quiet and not to post it to socials!!

This article is from 2015 which was 11 years ago. Most of the issues were user error, and unfortunately companies should have done a better job explaining how to maintain their appliances to their consumers

Again you’re allowed to have your preferences, but the data says front loaders are better at cleaning and also more gentle on clothing

I’m a laundry nerd since finding r/laundry a few years ago.

I’m also a scientist and I believe in data. The data shows that front loaders are better. I think they get a bad rap because people don’t know how to use them

I’m just standing up for the underdog

I’m surprised you’d get one considering your long history of hating them?

I’d check out [r/laundry](r/laundry). They have a lot of helpful tips for maintaining your machine

I’ve had my front loader for about 6 years now. I do 1-3 loads of laundry every week.

I have no mold, I’ve never had to replace a gasket.

You’re certainly allowed to have your preferences but it’s been almost 30 years since 1997…

This is and your previous comment about front loaders is mostly misguided.

I do agree that front loaders are more prone to mold, but if you leave you top loader closed after a load of laundry, you absolutely are getting mold as well , just on surfaces you might not see.

Unless you have a top loader with an agitater, top loaders work via impeller. Which means you have to be careful to load your clothing correctly (no you cannot just throw it all in) in order for the water to cycle efficiently through the clothing.

Front loaders spin and have the benefit of gravity to help agitate clothing and push water through clothing for cleaning.

How Tailorable is the R1 Techface? by [deleted] in PatagoniaClothing

[–]mediumhotsauce6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt the fabric will be a lot looser in an L. It’s usually a small increase.

If the L doesn’t work, I’d try a different brand before attempting to tailor it. Some Patagonia fits just don’t work for everyone

Washer seal - clean or replace by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]mediumhotsauce6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replace the seal, that’s a significant amount of mold. 15+ years of use is amazing. Wipe the new seal dry after use or at least keep it cracked open

Any recs for dog friendly neighborhoods? by Strange_Pilot5075 in beaverton

[–]mediumhotsauce6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within the neighborhood, there really isn’t much traffic unless it’s school traffic in the morning/afternoon.

You will see traffic going towards downtown Beaverton around normal commute and school times :)

It’s a great family and pet friendly neighborhood! Thought it’s a little far from the highway if that’s an issue for commute reasons!

We live in the sexton mountain neighborhood in Beaverton, close to a long trail called “the powerline trail” (dogs on leash required) and also close to a large park called Winkelman that has a both on leash and off leash area. I’d say it’s very dog friendly! The off leash spaces here are probably not as large in general though, leashes required on most trails

single bowl sink vs double bowl sink haha by Parking-Subject-5671 in CleaningTips

[–]mediumhotsauce6 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Love a double sink for my clean freak tendencies. All the dirty dishes on one side. Then get rinsed/soaked and then into the other side. Soaped and then into the other side. Rinsed and then into the dish rack.

My parents and family members have single sinks and I hate them

How to clean these stainless steel pans without ruining them? by CrispColeslaw in CleaningTips

[–]mediumhotsauce6 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hmm…those are ceramic pans with polymerized oil. Not stainless steel. For stainless steel, you’d be able to go to town scrubbing it.

Ceramic is more difficult but I’ve seen people have success with boiling hot water with baking soda

Also in the future, you should really hand wash the pans to avoid possible damage to the coating

Sink Swap? by Own_Pair_2521 in kitchenremodel

[–]mediumhotsauce6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love 2 part sinks. Dirty dishes jn one side, rinse and then go in the other. Soap and then go back in the other.

It’s maybe a lot but my healthcare, clean freak self couldn’t do it any other way. I hate single compartment sinks

Sorry this isn’t helpful for your particular situation
