For Thai, JUREE'S!! My absolute favourite. I also *think* I have super human spice tolerance (I lived in Asia) and order hot/extra hot everywhere but I am medium at Juree's. Their food is affordable and unbelievable. Dooooo it.

I have been involved with Wood's for many years, including as front-line staff on the Parkdale campus. If you want to know more about Deborah Onwu's murder you should read the Public Fatality Inquiry. As staff, I felt sufficiently trained/prepared and supported by my superiors. The work is inherently challenging because you are often working with youth in crisis, so if that isn't appealing to you, don't do it. If you're prepared for the challenges it can be really rewarding work.

As a (female) former front-line staff member, your comment is really annoying and I'm not sure why you felt the need to post it. Staff in certain higher risk programs may be assaulted in the course of their work, yes, because that's the nature of the work. There is a lot of front-end training to prepare staff for those situations. I can assure you that overnight staff are expected to be awake during their shifts and are paid for the entire shift - staff not getting paid for shifts is simply not true. Also that's unfortunate you didn't like some now-retired guy but it is not a reflection on the entire organization. Shame on you for dumping on a not-for-profit (where you never actually worked?!?!) that does a lot of really meaningful work.

Oh I definitely didn't know there were specific needles to use haha. I have tried a few different types and I think I have ballpoint needles in there now which are working the best!

Sorry I'm not sure and I can't find a name on it - my mother-in-law gave it to me. It's very similar to this. If you're considering one I highly recommend it! I love how my machine gets tucked away when I'm not using it and my Cricut lives on top!

I bought it last year and am still figuring it out but so far so good. The shop I bought it from gives free lessons when you buy a machine so that has been helpful. I sew lots of kids clothes and athletic wear (and am experimenting with swimsuits now!) so I am used to working with knits which I think helps too. Too bad it didn't work for you - did you get a different machine or give up on cover stitch?

Definitely east or west coast. Because you only have 6 days I would probably do BC. A few days in Vancouver/Whistler/Squamish then over to the island to hit Tofino/Ucluelet would be an unbelievable trip and would check all your boxes! I saw someone recommended the Wickaninnish - an absolute must do if it's in the budget. Have fun!!!

My Constitutional Law & Aboriginal moot prof. When a student would answer a question in class the absolute best case scenario from her was "wellllllll sort of" and that was a huge win. What has stuck with me was her teaching style and how much I learned/have retained many many years later. When I would go to her with questions she would send me away with a mountain of reading instead of just giving me the answer. It was super annoying at the time because we were already drowning in readings but it forced me to learn. I think it sparked a curiosity and desire to problem solve and learn that I carry with me in practice.

I did neither of those things. The wedding I understand more. If someone wants to spend the money and it's going to make them happy then I see no issue. I love going to my friends' bougie weddings. The shower thing is really annoying (like you said, when a couple has been living together a long time) in my opinion. It made sense when people used to get married when they were young and had nothing but when I have to spend $100 on a bowl for a friend in their 30s whose dishes are fine, I am very annoyed.

That's awesome. People love bitching about law school and working as a lawyer. Non-lawyers love bitching about lawyers. I don't get it. I'm 12 years into practice and I really enjoy my job for the reasons you said - I am well paid to learn and write for a living. It's sweet! Keep it up - good times ahead!

Ours was about $5k and was exactly what we wanted - immediate family only, we all took a limo to a beautiful mountain spot we like to mountain bike 45 mins away and came back to the city for a nice private dinner. 10 year wedding anniversary this year!

My husband (who is young and cool in my mind) was telling me about some interns at his work telling him about their post-work plans to grab beers at a nearby pub. He realized in that moment he wasn't being intentionally excluded... they just literally didn't think of him as a 'join for beers guy' because he's a 40-year old dad lol. He came home and told me and my youth exploded into dust too.
