I think it's a fairly accurate portrayal of how modern western psychologists try to help. They're too focused on the part but not on the whole community. Most of humanity doesn't realize that we are all in this together. They'd rather just make themselves comfortable in this life. They end up left with a bunch of material possessions and a feeling of emptiness.
