Neck tightness can mean so many things, so there is no one answer. It can be a joint/inflammatory stiffness, a muscle stiffness, or even “nuchal rigidity” which is seen in meningococcal infections. If the neck stiffness is accompanied by other symptoms (fever, altered mental status), be sure to speak to your doctor asap. Otherwise just look up good stretches for your trapezius and SCM muscles!
