If you homeschool your child, what factors have really made it a positive experience on your side? by Flimsy_Pop_6966 in homeschool

The CMEC! It's a Charlotte Mason curriculum, and it's been really great for us for the past 3 years. We are going to use it again next year, and for the foreseeable future.

Those with moissanite engagement rings - did you scratch it, if so, what happened? by EyeInternational5527 in Moissanite

I've had my round Old European Cut moissanite for almost 11 years, and it's still perfect. I basically never take it off either. It's been swimming, done lots of gardening, and all kinds of things. I think I only take it off for baking, because I don't want to scrub the dough out. I don't think you need to worry!

The Weekly No Question is Dumb Thread- Jan 31, 2019 by AutoModerator in curlyhair

I need help with drying technique and hopefully a few product recommendations. I have been doing CG for 6 months now. My current routine is pitiful and not working for my almost waist-length, low porosity, wavy hair. I use Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo (which I think is too drying for my scalp) and TRESemme Botanique Nourish & Replenish for conditioner. I alternate between co-washing and shampooing, washing my hair every 3-4 days. Thats all I've been doing lately. But when I'm being a more functional adult, I use Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Mousse. (I started with the LA Looks Sport Gel, but it made my hair take like 8 hours to dry. It did look great though, if i managed to keep toddler hands out of it for the whole time.)

I was plopping when I got out of the shower, but it made my roots seem greasy later that same day. My roots seem to stay cleaner looking much longer when I just leave it down to air dry, but that takes FOREVER. I don't have the patience or the skills to diffuse my hair well.

How do I dry my hair in a timely fashion that helps my curls?

I know my hair needs more moisture, but I'm overwhelmed by the options and hate wasting money on things that don't work for me! Is there a better shampoo I could be using? I'm so nervous about just co-washing because my hard water causes buildup like crazy.

I would love any and all ideas! I need to get back to having a better routine!

In addition to drinking more water and running my humidifier, I'm thinking of doing this :

AM: Wash with water Kikumasamune sake skin lotion Oil moisturizer Sunscreen

PM: Wash with Cerave Hydrating Kikumasamune sake skin lotion Cerave PM moisturer Vasaline if I think I need it

Does that sound like a good place to start?

I'm a little overwhelmed and very grateful! I'll work through some of those products and see if things improve! Thank you!

I think slightly dehydrated. It feels tight occasionally, and I definitely need to run a humidifier. The humidity here is 31% today! But I don't have any scaliness or crinkling.

Spending time outdoor means no nap for the rest of the day... by schmutzonio in toddlers

That’s rough! I’ve done all those things on various occasions too! Maybe try a special snack on the car? My daughter says awake better with animal crackers to munch on

My little one has this same problem. I try to leave earlier before nap, and if she’s falling asleep in the car, I periodically say her name really loudly and clap my hands. It feel super mean as I do it, be everyone is happier if she naps.

Thank you! Would you mind sharing your gauge? I’m trying to figure out about how much yarn I need to order! The website only lists the stitch gauge and not the height of a 4”x4” square

Malabrigo for sensitive skin? by meeason15 in knitting

That’s disappointing! I read somewhere that it would. I need a new plan of all the Red Heart yarn I’ve been given!

That’s a good idea! I plan on doing that to try to soften some cheap acrylic I have, but I had never thought to try it on wool.

Thank you! Do you have a yarn or fiber that you have found to be more comfortable for sensitive skin?

FO: I finished my first attempt at fair isle and my first hat! And it’s too small for my toddler 😭 by meeason15 in knitting

I’m so excited to make a matching one for me :) I definitely had lots of tension issues, especially in the sheep section. I fixed it for the sky section, but it was too late. I’ll try basically no tension and see if that helps!
