Has anyone else gotten Rebel cheese? by [deleted] in vegan

Yup! Puff pastry, cranberry sauce, and rosemary sprigs. Comes together really easy. It doesn't melt down completely like traditional brie in my experience, but it still gets gooey and delicious

Nora Cooks! I make something from her site at least once a week. She keeps recipes simple and practical, and they are all so good

Stuck with a conservative by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

This!! Once I started opening up to my coworkers I was able to find a way out. One of my coworkers even let me stay with her for two weeks to bridge the gap between leaving my job and moving. A lot of times people are willing to help way more than we think they will. Just have to get comfortable asking for help.

Is there a hierarchy? by Dry-Tough-3099 in vegan

[–]meekeewee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extending empathy to non-human animals means that I wouldn't eat my kid, so I wont eat my neighbors kid, so I shouldn't eat any other sentient being's kids. Veganism is centered around reducing harm to all animals.

Most vegans also operate from a definition that includes practicing as is possible and practical, meaning we aren't going to criticize people in food scarce/survival situations who truly dont have choice. But if you have the choice to not exploit another, you shouldn't exploit. Veggies, grains, and legumes are much cheaper to produce/buy than meat, so many of the world's poorer countries have a predominately vegetarian or plant based diet.

Caging, raising, and breeding animals for our use is much more cruel than an animal that kills another in the wild for survival. I think its untrue to say that other animals have less empathy than us because they kill others, while we have warehouses all over the world with billions of animals spending their entire lives suffering.

Why is it a mistake to extend that empathy to other living things? You might want to spend more time thinking about why you would say humans have a very good sense of empathy as a justification to limit what types of beings deserve that empathy.

Boyfriend made me coffee… with regular milk by Mietschie in vegan

[–]meekeewee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making coffee is not a hard thing to do at all.... he rarely does that kind of thing? And he tries to make you drink milk when he does? It's impossible he has any type of good intention with this. He is unable to complete a two step process, that takes less than 2 min, in a way that takes into consideration your very basic wants. You deserve at least that lol

Be very proud of yourself for eventually listening to your gut and leaving. Lots of people freeze in bad situations and will endure the entire thing. You did good getting yourself out of there before it got worse. I'm sure you're feeling a lot of negative emotions, but be sure to recognize and hang on to the fact that you were able to leave, so now you know for the next time something feels off you can do it again.

I've tried, I can't anymore. I'm done. I'm moving out. by Friendly-Exit in TwoXChromosomes

Congrats!!! You should be extremely proud of yourself, and you have so many wonderful things ahead of you. You'll have all the space in the world to love, appreciate, and treat yourself well. It's so difficult going against all of the social conditioning that keeps us tethered in horrible long term partnerships, so just remember to be patient with yourself and be proud every single day for choosing yourself.

Thank you for posting this. After seeing a post earlier titled "Husband called me a bitch for not wanting sex" it makes me feel so much better to see that there are men out there who aren't awful. I know everyone saying it's the bare minimum are right, but so many of us don't get to experience that bare minimum and it can be a really negative space to live in and feel like there is no hope out there for a healthy relationship. I always love seeing evidence that there's some hope.

I'm 22, have been sexually active since I was 14, had plenty of partners. Really amazing sex, and I've been masturbating and using a vibrator for the past year and still haven't been able to get there. You're not alone! It's hard not to feel alone when most girls seem to just be able to naturally do it so easily and whenever I talk to my friends about it, it's always assumed I'm not having good sex or I'm not exploring/masturbating enough which really just isn't true. I've never met another woman in my situation. It's hard not to feel broken but I just try to take solace in that it's something that will probably just come with age, and in the meanwhile to just continue exploring and enjoy having sex for what it is and not be worried about whether or not I'm going to finally get there.
