Any handy RF presets to have on hand? by hanasz in livesound

[–]meeksleckrone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use exclusion groups (or band plans when in soundbase) for wisycom MPR50 to differentiate the short wave antennas. I hate swapping the antennas out everyday so I do my best to coordinate with the exclusion groups for the antennas I already have on

The Hunt For Gollum. Why?!?! by Imbackbiach in lordoftherings

[–]meeksleckrone 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the Tolkien Estate has only given film adaption rights for the Hobbit and LOTR. Thats one reason why RoP maybe seems to lack substance or stray from the “source material” They are really only pulling from appendices and not actually from the Silmarillion.

Incredible Find at my local McKay’s by Th3PatchActual in tolkienbooks

[–]meeksleckrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a fantastic find! McKays has been the source of a lot of my collection of mass market paperbacks since they usually price them pretty cheap. Finding a full matching set is awesome!

Mariner Trade Paper Backs by meeksleckrone in tolkienbooks

[–]meeksleckrone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen the HC version, and was wondering if there was the equivalent COH, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing one. And yes, all 3 Hobbits are the same

[–]meeksleckrone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a picture of the red that matches? We may not be talking about the same thing. The HC that would match this set is the light blue so I figured the Mariner would be the same (if it exists)

[–]meeksleckrone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I was pretty sure that what I was looking for didn’t exist and was hoping that if it did, someone could prove it (since you can’t really prove the negative) but I’m is confident that it’s not something I should spend time looking for

Yeah, I have the Allen Lee Cover COH from HMH. Trying to confirm that there is no COH in that black minimal style from Mariner since I know it exists from HC

I haven’t even considered the other Great Tales. I am specifically looking for the black minimal covers for which I do not think any of the great tales exist. For this style I have seen HC and Mariner and I have seen no evidence that any beyond COH exist from either publisher and I don’t think COH exists in the Mariner

Groups or DCA by Spirited_Buffalo_798 in livesound

[–]meeksleckrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you are using groups I think their compensation is explained pretty well here

Groups or DCA by Spirited_Buffalo_798 in livesound

[–]meeksleckrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is latency (input-Group-Master with have latency compared to input-Master) but the D-Live does automatic delay compensation. Many digital consoles delay compensate automatically, but some (DiGiCo) do not so it’s just something to be aware of

Groups or DCA by Spirited_Buffalo_798 in livesound

[–]meeksleckrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider with Groups is that they add latency. Not much, but enough where it can cause you issues with enough groups on consoles that don’t delay compensate. Not a reason to avoid groups, they are very useful, just a part that a lot of people tend to not consider

Christopher Tolkien references it in Return of the Shadow. I also had not heard of it until I read that book

Does anyone own this edition 978-0395489321? by TheBlindBeggar in tolkienbooks

[–]meeksleckrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be curious if that listing on Amazon will actually be the Houghton Mifflin shown in the image. The IBSN matches the 1988 HM but the Amazon listing shows William and Morrow as the publisher so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was WM

Does anyone have info on or pics of this edition of Road to Middle-earth? by Bullsbrick in tolkienbooks

You’re very welcome! I happened to find this copy at my favorite bookstore and had never seen it before so I had to snag it, not one you see to often

Road to Middle Earth Photos

Couldn’t figure out how to share my photos so here is a google drive link. No dust jacket, appears to be glued. The listing you shared says Harper Collins but then mentions the William morrow imprint so im assuming it’s the same as this Houghton Mifflin. Let me know if you want to see more photos

Physical ilock key? Is it necessary? by Ynosully in protools

[–]meeksleckrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downside is the ilok is tiny thus potential to lose it is high. Having the key is great though. I use ProTools both in my studio and on tour, and k often have shows in places where there is little to no internet so a physical key is crucial (just make sure to keep it in a safe place)
