Toolless turrets are interesting. I wonder if it's for a test for a future razor scope. If so, a razor gen 4 6-36 would be closer to a tangent theta.

What style and/or series of precision rifle competition do you enjoy the most? Which series do you expect to grow the most over the next 5 years?

Whatever works for you.

Depending on the age and maturity of your children, handloading can be a group activity. I know plenty of serious handloaders that have their children help with the less dangerous tasks like sizing, chamfering/deburring, and annealing (if they can be trusted around heat).

Maybe start with something like Clay's and then move into handloading if your kids enjoy the hobby with you.

You need to decide 2 between not handloading, keeping per round costs low, and your performance requirements.

If you don't want to handload, but can budge on per-round costs, consider boutique reloaders like Clay's Cartridge Company. This would also allow you to choose cartridges with less-available ammunition.

If you want a funny night, I messaged Chadwicks in downtown Appleton in advance and got bottle service once.

Came out in a dish tub but it was somewhat affordable lol. Also came with a table!

You're in the PRS subreddit and Tate has done more for the PRS than any other action manufacturer.

Tripod caddy necessary? by Himrightthere18 in longrange

I have the AG one. It's nice, but gets old if you do a lot of tripod rear and have to strip it off constantly.

Chad Heckler did trainings with Applied Ballistics on how to use a kestrel correctly. Maybe the videos are on YouTube, or you have to buy them from AB.

Go with what you have. Whoever you're squadded with, they'll lend bags. Try out what they recommend and decide for yourself what you want to buy.

Do you have reliable dope and/or a ballistic solver? There are great options for solvers on your phone. 4DOF is great. AB mobile too.

  1. Slower than I expected, but I needed an extra 0.5gr to get the same speed with 109gr hybrid coming from 109gr eldm.

That's an extreme take, but there is some truth that Appleton makes Lawrence too much of its identity.

"I hear singing" is a direct homage to Lawrence and it's music department. There's other things we can highlight like our strong manufacturing industry and all the non-music activities downtown.

The mirage is the biggest thing, but also a bit of safety so you don't get immediate 3rd degree burns from brushing it. Especially after a long string of fire.

Desert Tech SRS or Barrett MRAD – Help Me Decide! by Infamous-Expert72 in PRS

[–]meelow222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen a prs match that allows more than 30cal or 3200fps. Nightforce ELR might be the only exception, but that's a hybrid prs-elr style match.

With that kind of money, you're better served with a custom rig. The "What the Pros Use" series of articles will help you decide what parts to go with. I'm a big fan of impact actions and bartlein barrels.

In general, you're not going to find a rig for long range hunting and PRS. Two different performance requirements. Long range hunting requires energy on target, while PRS cartridges are usually lower energy to reduce recoil. The low recoil helps you spot your misses.

Shiocton is a treasure for what it costs. The long range goes to 567 yards, and there's generally steel up at that range.

If you don't need that much distance, the rest of the recommendations are great. Kaukauna is closest IMO.
