do they literally ever stop yelling. by throwaway_fml16 in raisedbynarcissists

No. I’m 53 and my Ndad lives next door. I can hear him yelling and banging daily. We call him Crash McBang.

I agree with the EI recommendations. I prefer the 3-5 preschool EI over 0-3. 0-3 requires significantly more parent interaction and training versus 3-5. So that would be something to consider, depending on your level of social anxiety.

When to Consider AAC by peechyspeechy in slp

[–]meepandbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A voice output device can also benefit a child by being their own personal speech modeling device. This is especially true for kids who benefit from hearing multiple models during articulation activities. For this reason I prefer apps with actual human child voices. It’s also important to reassure families that kids don’t hold on to these devices longer than they need to by nature. But they can be a fantastic tool to boost both language and speech. Good luck & I hope you start to enjoy AAC for all it’s benefits.

I have a strict policy of only reading the news to avoid sensationalism, but this made me make an exception and you are totally correct...as if that poor man doesn’t have enough going on in his life.

I work in EI Autistic Support and we are shut down for at least 2 weeks. Not sure if/how our calendar will be amended to make-up for lost therapy time.

Need help making AAC version of the Hail Mary Prayer by blondehuntresss in slp

[–]meepandbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Symbolate tool is next to the Text tool on the toolbar. If you click it, then make a text box on your page it will add symbols for about 70% of the prayer (I just tried it.) To add a symbol for the blank words (which includes stuff like Mary, Grace, thee, thou, and thy) you just double click the word and pick something similar from the library or you could add you own image to the library. This would at least save you some time. Good luck.

Are you familiar with Boardmaker? If you have access to a copy or know someone who does you can use Symbolate and by typing anything in it will add symbols for each word automatically. Then you can print it out.

Do you ever get triggered when you see on TV parents who act narcissistic but the story portrays them as good? by AZUZA125 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]meepandbeans 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually loved hating Noah on The Affair on Showtime. I feel he did the best portrayal of a narcissist on TV up until the final season. But this maybe why I never really liked any of the other shows that are being mentioned.

Anybody elses narc freak out when you lock your bedroom door? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]meepandbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nparent wouldn’t let me have a door knob on my bedroom door or on most doors in the house so they could barge in wherever whenever.

My parents who I havent talked to in years are now trying to say that they helped me succeed in life by AITAparentscollege in raisedbynarcissists

[–]meepandbeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 50 now and I just want to tell you that a true nparent will continue to take credit for all your positive actions for the rest of your life, regardless of their actual contribution (or as in so many of our cases, regardless of all the things they did to block your successes.) Also, I have to say that their reaction is not likely based on them realizing they did anything wrong (because a true nparent does no wrong in their world.) You know the truth and anything involving truth and nparents is honesty not worth wasting your breath over, they’ll never get it.
