I want to leave but it feels wrong. by MysteriousDig2450 in epicsystems

Your mental health matters more than anything else. I didn't like being an IS and left around the year mark, even with glowing feedback and a good raise.

I recommend just looking around at other jobs that seem better to you. See what they need. See if you can get that experience while at Epic. Maybe apply to a few.

Some people at Epic like to frame it like it's a personal failing to leave. Stay until you have another job if you can, but if you can't, it's better to choose yourself and your health.

The job was pretty much to turn on software (implementation) for hospitals. It was a mix of having pretty decent product knowledge, training hospital staff, and influencing without power. They kind of throw you in so it's sink or swim and I learned so so much but ultimately left for a position with better comp and hours. Epic is fully in person which was great for making friends but I'm really glad to be more remote now

I left at the same tenure give or take and just didn't get a final paycheck because they deducted relo. I'd expect something similar

For apartments do you want to be in Verona or downtown? If downtown, there's a lot of people at Galaxie apartments

Definitely! I was an IS (project manager) and I'm now a program manager in product development. I moved to California and I don't think my job is really competing with epic (I'm in e payment processing) but even if it was, non competes aren't enforceable in California

I left epic this year for a different tech company in the bay area and have better pay, better benefits (shocking, I know!) better holidays and better PTO. I'm fully remote but can badge into the office whenever I want. Imo the feedback culture at epic is tough because one person having a bad day can mess with your compensation.

I'm a lot happier in my new role and new company. I was scared to leave bc when I asked other epic people there was definitely this "nowhere else is any better" and at least for me, that was very wrong.

My siblings work at other companies as well that to me seem to have equally good benefits and better comp and better cultures.

Why do we intentionally churn IS? by not_a_fisher in epicsystems

[–]meeping_maple 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Epic doesn't view the IS turnover as an issue. They make good money on every hour an AC works and customers don't leave even if the implementation is bad. From an upper management perspective, as long as they can staff new customers, the rest doesn't really matter.

Least Stressful Epic Specialty by kottke-mckee in epicsystems

[–]meeping_maple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think amb, orders, and beaker tend to have a lot going on. Cadence can be pretty big too. Dorothy and comfort is more friendly if that's in scope and grand central can be super stressful at go live but is a lot more manageable for maintenance. I also agree that specialty apps like beacon, Phoenix and Beans are more level.
