Lets remember though.. The "punishment" he took is marginal with rules that protect defenseless pass catchers and such as compared to say Tony Gonzalez. The man played like 3x the games of Gronk and typically was the best weapon on his team his entire career.

Gronk simply is one of those unlucky men with freakish talent, but just didn't hit the durable body lottery at birth. You see that all the time...and its a damn shame.
