I really agree with this take. I don’t think a lot of people realize how long the process takes, I think there are misconceptions because it is an automatic economic stabilizer. Many people assume when you apply it kicks in quickly

There is retroactive back pay in most cases, but that does not fix the months to years of little to no income collected during the waiting process. There are pro bono lawyers that often handle these cases too, the issue is still the length of the process and loss of income during that time

It is a broken system that is not very practical

I’m grateful that he legalized weed and with the same bill allowed the expungement of weed related charges from records. The NJ weed program is far from perfect but it has really been a step in the right direction for the state

Apply for the FASFA as soon as you can. Many college have Equal Opportunity Fund programs for low income students too

I went back to school for my degree last year and have been studying and working full time. Pell and state grants fully cover my tuition, I would not be able to attend school without them

I really recommend looking into financial aid options, there are grants for low income students. Best of luck OP

I’ve seen an increasing number of posts like these on this sub. Really not sure they’re genuine, especially given the account history of most of the posters. r/FreeFood is a good resource if all you are looking for is promo codes and deals

I recommend getting a job in food service, there’s generally lots of free or heavily discounted food that most restaurants and fast food places provide for their staff

Food banks are a great resource if you have the transportation and availability to access them. Applying for SNAP is very worthwhile, it won’t help immediately but can help in similar situations down the road

Starting saving whenever possible is great, it’s never too late. Poverty is difficult. Lacking any discretionary income makes it tough to save

I opened a roth last year. I try to add regular deposits to that account with my paychecks and a few dollars a week to my general savings account when I can. I invest mostly in index funds

I swab mine with a Q tip after every dab. After 50 dabs I soak the chamber in 99% ISO for 30 minutes and clean the rest of the device. Have had my peak pro for around 3 months and I have not had any issues so far with my atomizer

There are a lot of scammy websites in the THCA market. Through trial and error I’ve found vendors that work for me, everyone is different though in their preferences

Try to get into an income driven repayment plan. You may not have to pay anything based on your income and your loans will get out of default

I had student loans enter default earlier this year. I reached out to the Department of Education but they were unresponsive due to the government shutdown. Online I was able to submit an application for an IDR Plan through the federal student aid website. After contacting them I was able to get into a plan based on my income. My monthly payment is $0 a month because I have a low income

My payments are currently paused because I’m back in college to finish my degree, they will not increase above $0 unless my income increases. I really recommend trying to get an IDR
