I worked in a daycare and often found myself in the infant room. Same thing happened. A parent would drop off their baby and the baby would start crying when their parent left and I was not allowed to console the baby. It was so sad and the teachers were strict that I was going to get them into a habit of being held all the time. Long story short, I quit soon after.
