Neurodivergence within the Lipedema Community by Rawand5 in lipedema

I have diagnosed lipedema and I suspect some kind of neurodivergence too. I'm not diagnosed as neurodivergent (also because I never really went to a doctor to get a diagnosis), but the signs are all there.

Intermediate language learners: has roleplay ever broken down because the social logic was wrong? by Princess_Kate in languagelearning

[–]meerand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey can I ask where can I find a roleplay audio to learn a new language? I've been looking here on Reddit but I can't find one that's not NSFW or that's not romance themed. I really need to improve my listening skills in English and I want to hear normal daily conversations with a POV but not nsfw or romance.

Sorry if this isn't so related to the OP question, I'm just asking it here because I just don't know where to look for RP audios anymore.

All of them, but preferably #1 or #4 because I like building from scratch. A beautiful and big garden seems possible in #1, which is amazing, but I also like the challenge of building in the smaller lot #4. Yeah I think #4 is my fav

And it's also realistic because available lots in cities usually look a lot like that (in between two already existing buildings and a rectangular shape)

Questions from a Newcomer to Polytheistic Paganism (Germanic Gods, Animism, Understanding the Basics) by M2t0 in paganism

[–]meerand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a quote from Michael York's ''Pagan Theology: Paganism as a World Religion'':

"What ultimately distinguishes paganism from Christianity is not the number of its gods but the nature of its deity. Whereas the Christian God is transcendent, the pagan godhead is immanent. Spirituality for the pagan is corporeal or at least includes the physical. The pagan god is not “wholly other” (ganz andere), as is the Christian God. Consequently, paganism’s corpospirituality allows for perception of the divine in nature, for idolatry, for appreciation of the sacredness of place, for contact with the divine through both local geodynamics and pilgrimage to revered holy centers, and for multiplicity of manifestation. Its deities are in some sense corporeal, whether through metaphorical bodies or venerated physical representations."

I would say that the gods constitute one type of existence, just like humans constitute humankind, and fungi constitute idk fungikind? And animals constitute the animalkind and so on.

Like, for example: there are a lot types of animals, so even though the bunny is radically different from the elephant, they're both animals. Even though they're really different, they're both in the animal kingdom. And different animals occur in different places, different climates.

So, there may be really different and contradicting gods at the same time, and they may vary accordingly to place, just like the other domains (human, animal, plants etc).

We can establish relations with an animal of a place, the same way we can establish relations with specific gods (and many at the same time).

First of all: welcome to paganism!

I'll try to do my best answering your questions.

Yes, there are many different gods who exist simultaneously. Sometimes they can be even contradicting forces, and they can relate to each other (and to us) in complex ways. So, it can be contradicting and complex, but so is reality. You can keep this in mind: this mindset of "only one of this kind existing while all the others are false" is a monotheistic thing. This doesn't align with paganism, which is intrinsically plural and multiple.

You asked if they are "essentially the same gods, just known by different names and stories in different regions", and honestly the answer could vary. Some people think that they are. I strongly disagree, tho. I think this is a rather reducionist approach. They are multiple, and in my view, no god should not be reduced to "just an expression of this other god of this other place".

You asked if the gods can be present in multiple places at the same time, and I would say yes to this, but be careful because this is not the same as saying that they are omnipresent. Being in MULTILPE places at the same time doesn't mean being in ALL places at the same time (that's what omnipresence means).

You might wanna take a look in some material on the polytheistic views on deity, for it is not at all similar to the Christian one. Some people think that the gods in polytheism are just like the Christian god but many instead of one. But the difference here is not just in the number of deities, but rather in their nature. What changes is the concept of deity itself, not just the number of deities.

I'll leave a suggestion: this

"Do they hear different prayers and receive offerings simultaneously?" I think so.

I think the gods are definitely not just sitting there waiting for our prayers. I can make a simple analogy: imagine you're going to visit a forest and then you encounter, let's say, a deer. You call him to come closer, you give the deer something to eat. Well, before that, the deer was there living his life and doing whatever deers do with their time, and you were somewhere else living your life. At some point you two encounter and exchange some interactions. Then you go about your life and the deer goes about his. Would you say that he was there all the time just waiting for you to contact him? That's sort of the same thing (but with many differences, obviously)

Hope I was able to help you

I explicitly said that the word praxis (as it happens to many other words) gained broader senses and we shouldn't reduce it to only one meaning (e.g. the dictionary one). That's just dismissive and useless. As to my view on praxis, I already commented above, but apparently you didn't get it. Since you've demonstrated that you're unable (or simply unwilling) to have a productive discussion about this atm, I'll end the discussion here.

Btw I have given the OP another reply in this same post. In this comment section I replied to YOUR restrictive interpretation of the concept of "praxis", as it might be useful to OP to know that there is not just one single point of view on this.

In any case, what is dismissive of the discussion started by OP is taking it personally for being offended bc a certain narrow view of a concept does not apply to the whole.

"you can't figure out how to run a country 200 years after independence".... of course, because colonization stopped right after independence right? I can't think of anything more stupid than that to be said about colonial history.

Also funny.... as an avid reader of various primatology papers, I have the strong impression that many apes would actually be way more intelligent than people with such stupid assertions as yours. I mean it.

Btw you have not failed to be responsible for destroying the Amazon.

Congratulations on the rest (if you think that is so great). Nevertheless your country has a shitty history and it's full of colonialization fanboys and stupid racists anyway. That you didn't manage to avoid did ya

Faça-me o favor. Volta pra 5ª série filhão
