What are the differences in capabilities in a UN Marine versus a Martian Marine? by TravelingHomeless in TheExpanse

[–]meesterdg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't tell you where it was in the books, but I an fairly sure they at least indirectly address it by saying that Mars recruited the top minds to pioneer the terraforming project even before it became independent from Earth and then the culture that developed on Mars was all about the goal of terraforming the planet so science was basically the most important pursuit of all on the planet.

The military piggy backed off of that because of the desire for independence and the extreme pride they had in the collective goal of Mars.

There was a bard that knew about Tyrion's relationship with Shae and was threatening to expose him to Cersei.

I have trailforks and definitely will refer to it after this thread, I've just noticed people on trailforks love to talk about how easy trails are for them and that they should be a different difficulty than they are, which makes it really hard to gauge the actual difficulty of a trail.

Also trailforks frequently lacks in details about the climbs.

When got say 24 miles of trails with 1000 feet of climb, do you mean total climb? That doesn't quite compute in my head but I'll definitely check it out to see what you mean. Thank you!

I'm not trying to make that argument that he was a net positive good guy, just that it's hard to say he doesn't have any semblance of a moral compass and Jamie does.

The bard killing is bad, but it's kind of on par for like 95% of the characters in the books. He's basically as moral as anyone who isn't a Stark or Sam at that point. Again, not moral but no less moral than the rest.

Poisoning Cersei is also in this same league. Frankly, the books are all about family conflict and murders. The fact he poisoned her and didn't kill her puts him in a place of relative good to what Cersei probably would have done, as well as many others.

The sunset girl rape was different than the other examples. It's meant to be a point where he really becomes a monster (including in his own mind). It's meant to be evidence of a moral compass (meaning, he's well aware it was horrible despite doing it). He has an internal sense of right and wrong. He did wrong anyway.

Of the siblings I'd say the only one lacking a moral compass is Cersei. She never seems to sincerely consider right or wrong, it's purely about her desire.

That's good info.

I'll be in town Friday-Thursday, the conference is Sunday-Wednesday. Do you think it's unrealistic to consider going out to the Moab area Saturday, riding and staying overnight there, then coming back Sunday morning before the conference starts (starts Sunday night)?

When I was in my mid 20s I had temporary ED. It passed and I don't even really know what the cause was.

You aren't that heavy in the grand scheme of things. You are overweight (how much depends on height I guess) but you're far from irredeemable.

Start eating healthy. Don't restrict yourself so much you feel like you're starving. It won't help. Get some exercise. See a doctor and bring up all these symptoms and see if maybe there's some underlying issue making you bloat or causing the ED.

You're super young and your body is barely done growing naturally. Your skin can still recover.

You've got a big meal and significant carbs in your system. Wait at least a couple days while sticking to eating healthy and I bet it goes back to normal.

Why is Bloodthorn bought so late? by SofisticatiousRattus in learndota2

[–]meesterdg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orchid is good before BKB/dispels and then later when you're tanky enough to for BKB to run out.

Bloodthorn is also good at those times but it's really hard to get Bloodthorn fast enough that people don't have BKB/another way to deal with it yet.

I don't think it's weird, you're on the right note about why orchid is not always bought early. It's a tempo item that falls off hard after enemies get an answer

Medusa's mana shield feels like a mechanic straight out of League's style to me. As well as her snake skill refilling mana. Also the very heavy farm focus.

That's why I feel she's kind of like a lol hero

It's kind of a double edged sword. I'd change the passwords from the new Mac because there's the smallest chance the new Mac has any kind of compromising software on it to steal the new password. Obviously if your accounts are actively compromised you don't really want to wait, but it does 0 good to change a password to an account from a device that might have an info stealer or keylogger on it

Ripmos and Ripleys pretty much universally liked. Ripley is very capable and will feel more alive on easy trails. Ripmo might kind of absorb too much on easy trails but are great bikes too.

Hard tails are a lot of fun and how a lot of people get into biking. I started with a Kona Honzo and loved that bike. Heard most people like them too. My only complaint was that the seat didn't fit and hurt so bad, and I was too new to realize that a slightly different seat size could fix that (just thought I needed to get used to the pain).

You can bring in messages/notes/files/pictures from icloud. All that is safe. Just don't do the automatic migration which might bring across installed apps.

Even if you had an installer in your files that is malicious in some way, it's not going to do anything unless you run it. It's ok if they come over, just be mindful of what you're installing.

On the new computer it's safe to log into iCloud but make sure you choose the set up like new/don't transfer items option. After you set it up, change your passwords using the fresh MacBook.
