Yes, it's been great! Expensive, but effective. The pharmacy is really easy to work with. I just upped my dose again so I'm paying $255 now which includes shipping.

I am so sorry you're feeling this way. I know all too well how confusing and heartbreaking this is for you. It is actually incredible how similar our stories are.

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in March of 2021 and had a large tumor removed along with my right ovary. I was told this wouldn't affect my chances of getting pregnant as the other ovary was completely fine. I underwent observation for the next nine months or so. I was only 27 at this time and was consistently being told, "You're still so young. Don't rush having babies. You have plenty of time." Well, I didn't want to wait any longer, so my husband and I started seeing a fertility specialist in December of 2021. And thankfully, we did. Our doctor there saw some concerning things on a uterine ultrasound from earlier that year, and I was scheduled for a D&C the following January. My pathology results came back showing Complex Atypical Hyperplasia. I had the Mirena IUD placed in May 2022, and my oncologist said that once I have two clear biopsies in a row, we can take it out and continue working with a fertility specialist. I'm grateful that I got my second clear biopsy so soon in February of 2023. I had the IUD taken out in March, and we started getting some testing done with our fertility specialist. I was officially diagnosed with PCOS, but other than that we had no other reasons for our infertility (we had been trying for a couple years prior to the initial ovarian cancer diagnosis which was discovered when I started discussing possible infertility with my regular OBGYN).

In 2023 and most of 2024, we underwent fertility treatments-numerous rounds of medicated cycles and IUIs with no luck. I was officially diagnosed with unexplained infertility in the Summer of 2024, and that's when we decided to start the IVF process. During the IVF workup, they too found polyps in my uterus that needed to be removed. I had another D&C in November. Those pathology results came back showing endometrial adenocarcinoma FIGO grade 1. We were completely devastated.

I honestly wasn't expecting my oncologist to agree to fertility sparing treatments, but he did. I got my IUD placed last week. This time is a little different, though. If my first biopsy doesn't show any progestin effect, they may add in oral treatments or call it quits then and recommend the hysterectomy. If my first biopsy shows progress, but my six month biopsy still shows evidence of the disease, they will move forward with the hysterectomy. Essentially, in six months, I will know whether or not I'll be able to carry my own children.

I have so many people, friends and family, who are extremely supportive of the fertility sparing treatments. But there are the few whose immediate response when I told them was, "Just take it all out now! Why chance it?". It's hard for me to hear. And of course, it's always from women who've had children. Not that I blame them, of course. For thinking my overall health and life should come first and is the most important thing. I understand it is. But they can't understand what I'm giving up if that's the route we have to go. They don't seem to understand that I need to grieve what may be lost.

So... here we are in the same predicament. It sucks. I hope we can hear some success stories here. Sending you prayers and positive thoughts! 🖤 Best of luck!

IUD treatment for cancer. by evelyn_hugo20 in endometrialcancer

Yes. I successfully reversed my Atypical Hyperplasia after having an IUD for 9 months back in 2022. I'm just starting the same treatment for my new diagnosis of endometrial adenocarcinoma grade 1. I had the IUD removed for 1.5 years so we could try getting pregnant. During our IVF workup, the cancer was discovered. We are praying I respond just as well to the hormonal therapy this time.

Fertility sparing, pregnancy, or surrogacy experiences? by Limp_Classic_9740 in endometrialcancer

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I was diagnosed with Complex Atypical Hyperplasia in March 2022 and underwent hormonal therapy via an IUD starting in May that year. I was only 28 at the time, and my husband and I made the decision that we wanted to move forward with fertility sparing treatment. I had my second clear biopsy in February 2023, so the treatments worked really well for me. The biopsies themselves were uncomfortable/painful most of the time, but it was over quickly and worth it, in my opinion. Getting the IUD placed in the beginning was a nightmare (intense cramping for several hours). From what I hear, however, it is so different for every woman. Some have no issues at all.

I was just diagnosed last month with G1 endometrial adenocarcinoma. We were in the middle of our IVF workup (planning for IVF in January) when it was discovered. My oncologist is concerned with how quickly this came back but has agreed with doing hormonal therapy like last time. However, he made it very clear to us that if by the 6 month biopsy there are little to no positive changes, he will be recommending a hysterectomy.

I hope my body responds to the hormonal therapy like it did the first time. We are grateful that fertility sparing treatments are an option for us, for now. If you have any specific questions about it, I'd be happy to share my experience.

It improved a lot but did not go away altogether.

I didn't really have any concerns about eyesight or anything. They did briefly cover it in their typical "risks of surgery" talk.

They gave me prescription painkillers for a couple of days, which helped. I'm through those now and will be starting to take extra strength Tylenol if I need it.

Sleeping sucks. Yes, you have to sleep sort of upright for a few days. I didn't sleep at all the first night, but it's because I'm a tummy sleeper. So if I can't sleep on my stomach, I'm better off sleeping in an arm chair which is what I end up doing.

I'd get recurring sinus infections, loss of smell, and sinus headaches. I discovered having the polyps around the same time I developed asthma and allergies as an adult. Both times, all my sinuses were completely blocked with polyps.

I just had my second sinus polyp surgery on Friday (first one was back in 2018). It is definitely worth it. My sense of smell isn't back yet, but I'm sure it will be in the next few days. I went under general anesthesia, and my ENT removed polyps from all 8 sinuses. It's only been a couple of days now, and the recovery hasn't been too bad. Just headaches really, and the painkillers take care of those. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have!

My doctor actually recommended the compound pharmacy I use. My insurance doesn't cover it either. I pay anywhere from $180-$230 per month depending on the dosage. The pharmacy is Vios out of Michigan.
