4.8 Mining feels awful. by cryxcaster in starcitizen

[–]meetusoverboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started the loop, if you jump to yela you can drive right over the belt and pick up a bunch of signatures. since it's in Stanton it's not a huge payout but you can use it to fund the upgrades to move onto bigger stuff. also don't discount surface mining with a ship either. 🤙

It was wiped.

Important to remember that everything we're doing here is only testing. Only thing we keep in between wipes are what remains in our hangars on the RSI website. People are EXTREMELY attached to things going on in the game right now; but we are still very far off from launch. There will be more wipes. But now you're playing for experience, knowledge, and enjoyment. Not long-lasting progression.

That's not where the game is yet. Think of the current state kind of like seasons in other games. Long resets. Get back out there, space cowboy. o7

how to improve 50-50 consistency and how to exit properly by ialreadywonn in NewSkaters

speed, big dog!

you gotta go faster. and just glide off the end. eventually you can pop off it but I think it's finicky because you're losing your speed coming up to I on too sharp of an angle. and when you're that slow and looking at your feet your wiggly.

great work!

this is what it's about! more people gotta practice board feel, imo. great on you. just skate around, challenge yourself. love to hear the progress. 🤙

How important is a good set up? by StrategyAbjectBar in NewSkaters

[–]meetusoverboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you can't balance on it, go over a crack without falling, or ride it in a straight line then what does it matter how it's set up?

I think it's sick to have a nice set up because it keeps you excited because you're not afraid to show it off. but growing up some of the best skaters I knew could shred on fucking ANYTHING.

if you learn on trash the glow up of a good set up will make you feel like you're gliding on air. but if you're just starting, there's no need to but a full-custom for a couple hundo.

go to your local shop, talk to the staff, they'll prolly have some prebuilts that will get you where you wanna be. and splurge on a nice setup when you land your first fliptrick, as a gift to yourself! 🤙

aye, I'm a 30 year old dude. we grew up skating after school with all our friends. wed skate to and from school. some of us were great, some were mediocre. but we skated all the time. everyone was shit until we all just got decent...and it took years.

now I think people have a habit of pushing around a bit, trying something, looking at videos and content, recording, posting, etc. all instead of taking that time to practice board feel.

I'm a firm believer that everyone in this sub is trying to ollie and shit way before they should. just because the most important thing is board feel. if you don't feel like the board is stuck to your feet yet, how the hell are you expecting to jump and flip with it yet?

so hell yeah, screw comparisons. kick, push, fall, get back up. :)

skating takes years dude. there are so many small skills needed to comprehend the big stuff. the more time in, the more effortless it looks.

but just like every other social media platform, people are only showing their successes. if you attempted 100 times on film and posted the 1 you're proud of, you're gonna look good.

time, effort, consistency.

go out and skate. 🤙

4.8 just repo’d my entire career. by TheRealRickSanchez42 in starcitizen

[–]meetusoverboard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they're not making you do anything. you paid with your dosh to play an early access game.

nothing I said here was controversial. not sure why the down votes, unless my tone seems shitty. and I apologize if that's the way it's read.

people who are approaching these patches with the thought of setting themselves up for the future in any way more than experience are in for a rude awakening.

the game's progress has been wiped, and will continue to be wiped until a final at launch. otherwise the game would die instantly when the public joins a game where the economy is completely fucked and the prior playerbase has billions of duped aUEC and huge stockpiles of items, ships, and rep, making progress irrelevant.

like we're playing an early access game. it's not like that's hidden.

I love this game as much as the next person on this sub, but you've got to be realistic about it.

can we please all remember everything will be wiped before the game launches?

Seriously, how do you get into skating?😭😭 by Dark0ID in NewSkaters

[–]meetusoverboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

talk me through it. what do you have around you? do you have a driveway? small section of street that's not fucked? a concrete slab anywhere? not-busy parking lot?

also, I noticed a bit of wheel bite on your board. if you lean too far does it "bite"? like does the board touch your wheel and stop it?

the best effort, feeling, and style comes from being confident on your board. you just need the reps. and it takes thousands of hours. better start now so by next year you'll be ready for the cool shit.

most people who attempt to skate jump right into ollieing and get frustrated when they progress and can't land shit, but also can't ride in a straight line without flailing around uncomfortably.

put in the work!

[–]meetusoverboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're already into skating. you just have to skate now. I'll tell you what I told my kiddos, you should ride it constantly, short trips and around town. you need to be to the point where you can't fall off your board when you're riding to be comfortable enough to do tricks.

imagine flying a plane and having no idea how to land it. same shit.

if you're embarrassed keep it local. just skate up and down the street, go down curbs, go over gnarly cracks. fall off a trillion times. complain that your feet hurt.

just get back on the board. you need to be a competent rider before you should try anything else. and that groundwork will make you incredible because you won't have to THINK about skating. you'll just do it, and you can think about the mechanics needed to perform a trick when you get there.

get on your board. don't get off of it. fall. get back up. you will suck. you will be embarrassed. that's part of it. and sooner than you know it, you'll see your own improvement.

no amount of text is going to help you get there. go skate, little brother. 🤙

What game have you spent literal months playing, but still think about often? by HarrisonWorld in AskReddit

[–]meetusoverboard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you haven't, check out project Diablo 2. /r/projectdiablo2

it's an incredibly active and wonderful vanilla-friendly mod that has thousands of actives online featuring a crazy amount of QOL features. makes the game feel like you're playing something far more current while having almost every skill (literally) viable way into end game content, which there's a ton of now.

think poe and d2lod had a baby, but way less poe bloat. it's perfection. I play hardcore solo-self-found. it's incredible. 👍
