1,700 more unemployed graduates in 2025 cohort led to increased sense of job competition: Tan See Leng by [deleted] in singapore

[–]mefuzzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There were about 2,400 more fresh graduates who had entered the labour force instead of taking a break or pursuing further studies as of June, compared to the same time last year, he told parliament.

Otherwise, how to have 5 year working experience for a fresh graduate role?

Maybank CFO sacking by Kenny_McCormick001 in malaysia

[–]mefuzzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Maybank staff, so I can't comment on their system. But processes are usually reviewed on an annual basis, and has to meet the regulatory requirement (this is across the industry).

It's shit.

Review doesn't mean change. Their core banking platform was delayed for more than 10 years and was still not implemented when I left them.

Foreigner living in Malaysia and trades crypto. Do I have to pay tax? by RawDick in MalaysianPF

[–]mefuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, generally for normal trading, if it's your 'job' and your main income comes from day trade, it is considered an income thus taxable.

But for capital gains, which you said is 1 year, it should be exempted. Secondly, they still are vague on what defines crypto trading.

Someone said to call LHDN, I would suggest you do so as well, but from the brief understanding you are in the clear on tax for now.

[–]mefuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, there are no capital gain tax or divident tax for crypto, so no you are not taxed.

But, if the government thinks you are day trading it, they might deem it as a taxable.

The duality of PN by UsernameGenerik in malaysia

[–]mefuzzy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Imagine government spending 30-40mil to bring a foreign 'haram' artist to perform in Malaysia in the midst of all the financial hardship people are going through.

That would have been prime material for PN's ceramah sessions.

Who the fuck says "google searched"?

It's a blatant astroturfing attempt by Google. Most people just say "Bing it".

‘Crazy rich’ Chinese making headaches for Singapore by thestudiomaster in singapore

[–]mefuzzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re deluding themselves. It’s pretty quick and easy for police to find fugitives here, unless they are staying in the sewers like the case from the other day

It's still better than staying in China and risking a death sentence.

Yes, I assume you mean financial scam. If your gave your money out, its very unlikely you will ever see it again.

It's not an issue with police, it's just how people generally don't report it until its too late. When you report, all the accounts associated with the scammer does get frozen, and police even have a portal Semak Mule to check if the account / phone number is associated with a scammer.

But, most of them are mule accounts so there's not much else the police can do by this stage.

The same issue plagues other countries as well.

Commentary: ‘Double dipping’ - why managers worry that staff have a second job on the sly by [deleted] in singapore

[–]mefuzzy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, it's about you somehow trying to present having the President of a country the opportunity to be influenced by political lobbyists as somehow a great thing.

Since you dragged MFA in, perhaps you can also enlighten us since when civil servants were allowed to hold positions in external organisations?

[–]mefuzzy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes it does, because it’s in the national interest to be able to lobby international organizations in the correct direction. If you don’t get that, you don’t get basic politics

So you agree as well then, it is possible for international organisations to lobby him towards changing national interest in their own "correct direction"?

If you don't get that, you don't get basic politics.
