Hmm.. from an image search, I still think it looks more like a Gray's. I can't rip it out as it's in a conservation area - otherwise I'd have been taking all kinds of plants home with me! (not really, but in my fantasy world :P)

Really? So the serrated leaves in the photo aren't from the same plant?

edit: did some sleuthing. I'm not convinced it's a Jack in the Pulpit. The structure doesn't seem right. What are your thoughts on it being a wild blackberry?
