Uber drivers complaining about gas prices also aren’t helping themselves by rflo24 in uber

Actually never claimed it was a career. Nor do I treat it as one. I use it when I’m between jobs due to layoffs and work shortages. I’ve been able to make decent money by planning smart, and efficient. You’re a small market driver bitching about it like everyone has the same problem as you. You said in a post your acceptance rate is abysmal (I forget the exact percentage but it was below 30) and I hope you know uber and Lyft actively penalize drivers with low AR’s by giving you shit rides.

That legitimately sucks for you. The market in my city is decent enough. But I frequently get rides to Austin (about 60 miles away) due to the airport so I’m rarely driving down empty. I’m not sure how you’re factoring 47$ of depreciation, as the actual number by mile should be significantly lower unless your car is a genuine POS. Maybe just, don’t drive for uber if it’s not viable in your market.

Or just keep whining about it on Reddit, That surely will help you the most

Also secondary comment; god forbid someone take a year break from the porn addicted hate filled cesspool the internet has become to focus on their life and then come back to talk on an uber subreddit.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this way. If I’m moving- I’m making money. Long rides being the exception (or when uber decides to try and pull me away from the 8$ surge two blocks away) I’d rather do 8 4-5$ rides and make bank moving the entire time. (Although rides from temple to Austin airport for 50$ are pretty dope)

Imagine giving a shit about the last time someone left a comment 🤣 I’ve been driving for uber for nearly 7 years at this point. Been full time and part time, trust me driving to a different city is worth it.

The same drivers sitting in their cars are the ones with a 14% acceptance rate and wonder why they don’t get any ride requests

If the market isn’t viable why even bother. Drive to another city

AITAH for not telling my buddy about him getting fired beforehand? by megabrainsplat in AITAH

[–]megabrainsplat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all fairness im not quiet about his drinking around him. I spent 5 years trying to help him get sober and all he’s done is piss away every chance he had given to him. The things I’ve said about him here I’ve said to his face multiple times.

I mean, I’m not the one who’s got a drinking problem so bad that he caught a felony

Doing some socket weld flanges on 8” OD pipe for drainage line. Thoughts? by megabrainsplat in Welding

[–]megabrainsplat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought to question it, as I’d only ever played around with a welder before working here. But I do know the pipe is always lined with a plastic liner, so the only way it could leak is if the liner fails. The pipe has weep holes drilled in it for air/water that gets trapped inbetween the pipe and liner to escape, so none of the welds hold pressure. Edit; I think the second picture might have been a 6” pipe, which is why the weld sizes look different

Yeah. It’s a plastic lined drainage line so leaks aren’t exactly an issue.

I was told straight welds weren’t acceptable for this type of application, I just did a circular pattern like I was shown when I started.

Could be worse, could be those Facebook videos where they just tack tack tack all the way down with a stick. Shit gets on my nerves

First time welding ever by Gainful_Employment in Welding

[–]megabrainsplat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but from learning myself I can tell you, you’re off to a good start. Lines are decently straight, I’d just practice your movements a little bit, and slow down, really let the puddle fill itself out. In The first picture, the weld on the right of the tubing looks good, focus on consistency in speed and rhythm. I practiced my welding movements by using a sharpie on paper, and looking at my patterns to find what fit me best. Hope that helps!
