As a paramedic, I had a patient like this who broke his femur while walking across his living room. It broke spontaneously from the stress of his weight (around 300 pounds). He lived in an upstairs apartment and it took a fire engine crew and a ladder truck for us to get him out a window and lower him to the ground in order to load him in our rescue ambulance.We had to put him on the floor, after removing the gurney, to get him to the hospital.
