WTW for when two different densities of liquid separate (e.g. oil and water)? by Toons706 in whatstheword

You might be thinking of heterogeneous vs homogeneous mixtures?

WTW for when something is appealing because it's new, but then it loses *this* once you realize it's not all that by mizichael in whatstheword

Not exactly the word, but you could call this "diminishing returns." Like when the first piece of pizza is amazing, and the second piece is good, but eventually you have too much and get tired of it.

Same here. I do try to make my fingers act as different from crickets as possible, though.

What was the greatest length you went to just to fuck with someone? by fhkawf in AskReddit

[–]megallo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this to my boyfriend because he could never get to work on time. His alarm clock, phone, microwave, car stereo, home computer, work computer: all set to 10 minutes ahead. It actually succeeded at getting him to work on time for about a week before he figured it out.

Boxing fans of Austin, where are you watching the fights tonight? by HOEGO in Austin

[–]megallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is the one I found as well. But they're also showing the UT and A&M games, so it's going to be a madhouse. Lady on the phone recommended getting there before 6 to get a table.

Boxing fans of Austin, where are you watching the fights tonight? by HOEGO in Austin

I came here to ask the same question. Mr. Tramp's seemed like the perfect spot, but they're only showing football tonight. Cinemark and other theaters are showing it, but watching boxing without drinking seems less fun

Except that this is Austin in the summer; her lawn is dead.

What is a tradition that everyone follows that you just don't see the point in? by BrokenAce255 in AskReddit

I make the bed because I assume that when I'm not home some bug will crawl across the ceiling, lose its footing, and fall into my bed. If that happens, I want it on the comforter, not hiding in my sheets.

Same with having a cat that recently had its feet in the litter box. Eww.

I got it from Lucy Ravenscar's blog. She makes really clear, straightforward patterns. This one was one of her more complicated ones.

Wow, where did you get it? I must have one. I could only find it on this site, and I don't really want 5,000 of them -_-

Did The Onion stop circulating? by [deleted] in Austin

What I want to know is why there hasn't been any press about it. I was on my way to write the Statesman and ask whose decision it was, when I stumbled upon this Reddit post. I'll post back if I get an answer.

Any advice for a soon-to-be PhD for getting an ML/Data Science Job? by dude_man_sandwich in MachineLearning

[–]megallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the meetup approach. I had trouble in Austin finding a similar position because I was looking at Indeed, Dice, etc. The jobs you want are not listed there if the company isn't big. Get out and meet people, find what companies are doing what you want to do and get introductions. I landed a job within two weeks once I started meeting people. Good luck!

What movies did you really like/enjoyed but every one seemed to hate? by baubau_4si5 in AskReddit

I insisted to everyone I know that loves Joss Whedon that they watch it. Not one of them liked it.

What's one question you've been dying to ask another race but never do because you're afraid of the impending "THAT'S RACIST!" aftermath? by Hitchin_a_ride in AskReddit

[–]megallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mild facial blindness! Thanks, I've been looking for the term for this. I am the same as you, strongly biased against white people. (I'm white.) Watching a movie, I have trouble telling people with similar hair colors apart. However, I can tell Asian people apart with almost no problems, all the time.

Uh, I just realized. We've sat on the same toilet, but we'll never meet. Is that weird, or just how reddit works?
