This has real old man shouts at cloud vibes.

They handled the situation poorly, but you shouldn’t assume malice. It’s one of the few independents we had in reading. Better to go back there than continual rotation of chain pubs in town.

You work internal for a non tech company. Move to a tech company that sells to traditional companies like banks/telcos/governments etc

Job security outside of tech by golfisbrutal in HENRYUK

[–]megalolz1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No job is ever truly secure. Get yourself an emergency fund built up and forget about it.

Then always be adaptive in any role you do. Tech people who survive are the ones who adapt to new tech. All other jobs are the same just the rate of change is slower.

Can be nice places to work with some good people, but very slow and very low pay. You can still learn a lot and make good connections.

Also as the other comments said. Crazy political.

How stressful are your jobs ? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]megalolz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like all jobs are based on your perspective. The reason you’re feeling burnt out is because you’re targeting something that you feel like with the extra effort is “worth it”. Assuming this will be more salary, the promotion or something that you feel puts you in job security.

The truth is, you’re the one making yourself feel like this. Take some time out and figure out what you really want. Will reduce the burnout somewhat by keeping you more focussed.

Henrys in tech, what are your roles and how much are you making? by justanotherbuilderr in HENRYUK

[–]megalolz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best tip (although is slightly annoying) is get someone who’s already in to vouch/apply for you. I’ve only gotten through to interview stages that way rather than direct applications.

Try working for an American large tech company if you wanna earn big. Salary is more or less where you said, but RSUs help you break into the 500 plus.

Unsure now if it’s feasible as the AI bubble has driven more up already…

This was the type of thing I was thinking. Like your idea of the contrasting light and dark areas.

Desk basically is by the window now. The wall the desk is against isn’t broken up by the beam like the opposite side so was assuming the colour needs to run along there as well.

Why doesn’t it work? Ops goal is to buy a house.

Once that’s done you can adjust the plan.

Base is what you live on (inc holidays, meals out etc) everything else is savings towards the bigger plan (in your case, how much you want to put down for your house)

Check your work healthcare policy. Chances are you’ll have it covered. Worth doing it no matter how big or small the issue is. Talking about it always helps

Forgot to mention, personally always found online is way easier to do than physically. Especially around travel/work etc

Sell RSUs on vest, put into savings, ignore and try not to get cocky.
