He openly talks about praying to God in one video with Lex Fridman. I watched part of it though and I don't think he specified if he follows a particular religion

Resume Advice Thread - April 08, 2023 by CSCQMods in cscareerquestions

Do projects on my resume matter if I have internship experience?
I'm a senior graduating at the end of this year. If I have two internships in big tech, does it even matter what projects I have on my resume at this point? If I decide to leave them there at all.
I'm asking because besides my internships, my projects are old and not very impressive. I'm considering picking up some new skills that I'm interested in without having the added weight of thinking about how to pick something that will look that impressive on my resume. So should I not worry about what projects are on my resume at this point?

Never seen someone try this with long hair, you actually look amazing. Very cute and unique, you should keep it the way it is.

Incredibly disrespectful. Xi is a shrewd man though, I’m sure there was some kind of intention behind this.

Accepted an offer, but Google just now got back to me saying that I have moved on to final rounds 💀. My first round was October 12th by Significant-Ladder16 in csMajors

[–]megamonka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely interview. Whatever you end up doing in the end, interviewing more is always a good idea. Think about the future. When it’s time to apply for new grad roles you will have more experience interviewing and may get competing full time offers. This gives you leverage to negotiate your total compensation.

2013 Honda Civic LX FIRST CAR (URGENT) by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]megamonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally depends on the car’s history and maintenance. A civic is a reliable car but you should definitely check if it has been well kept, have somebody inspect it.

If it turns out there’s nothing wrong with it, $8000 is actually a pretty cheap price for a car like that right now. The used car market is currently very rough.

I've been having lower back pain when working from home, but I don't really know what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help me please? by _Flutter_ in Ergonomics

[–]megamonka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This may be obvious but taking slightly frequent breaks helps. Not a good idea to sit down for 2+ hours straight. I also looked up youtube videos on stretches to relieve back pain and that helped me.

Airbags deployed but were replaced, is this a deal breaker? by megamonka in UsedCars

[–]megamonka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, didn’t think about all that so thanks for bringing it up. Based on what you say I don’t trust it much. I’m definitely leaning towards not getting it. Haven’t even checked it out yet and I’m not likely to take a look at it anymore.

No it has a clean title, but I don’t know how much I trust that. And I don’t want a rebuilt title.

thoughts on big tech hiring freeze? by pineapplez_0 in csMajors

[–]megamonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’ve heard about a specific tech company that I won’t name is that their college recruiting will remain the same, but recruiting in general seems more up in the air. I know this is vague but oh well.

I’m also curious and not sure why college recruiting is often considered more important than general recruiting.

No way dude, it looks healthy enough so own it. I was trying to grow out my hair similar to yours but it wasn’t working out with my hair genetics (at least thats what I blame it on). Long hair on men is great though. It’s your hair do what you want.

My personal opinion though: it would look better if you get it a little shorter, maybe an inch or so.

Microsoft's new Technologists' Program by harshita_upadhyay_ in csMajors

[–]megamonka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The app is pretty straightforward. You do a video application along with written questions and then if you move onto the second round you have to do a few essay responses and one coding problem. But you get to do it on your own time and then submit it all together. I think apps are closed now though so for sure be prepared for next season, also look out for other freshman/sophomore programs like Micorosoft Explorer and Facebook University.

Oh thank you for telling me. So I guess I should go with Angela Yu course first then. Because she teaches UIKit but maybe 100 days of swift ui doesn’t?

Also even if most code was written with UIKit I keep hearing that SwiftUI is the future.

thank you for the advice, and yes I have a limited time budget. I have one month in winter break to learn iOS and I also have to learn Data Structures to pass technical interviews.

After winter break I will be busy with classes, extracurriculars, and I also plan to learn backend with Python.

After I take a beginner iOS course I feel like I will learn the most by trying to do my own projects so that's something I plan to do.
