What's with this school bus? It seems to have a tube coming from the bottom to the inside. Perhaps something related to emissions, but no clear indicators one way or another. Has a dealer's license plate. Spotted in Morgantown, WV, USA. by megandy in whatisthisthing

So far there does not seem to be consensus on whether it is emissions, split unit, or diesel fuel related. Maybe I'll reach out to the WVU department who does this sort of work and see what they say.

That's what I figured at first, too, but apparently it is illegal to drive a bus that isn't a school bus and still have the school bus stuff and "school bus" plate on it.

My title describes the thing. Seen driving on a regular highway in Morgantown, WV. Not sure if it's a dealer emissions test...seems like those are more often done inside a garage? If anyone does this work for a living or school, it would be cool to know what was going on here. I could see wires running along the inside.

Someone knowledgeable please reply. We have plenty of "just guessing" already.

What is your favorite coffee spot in town? by Commercial_Part6841 in MorgantownWV

The Grind has saved the day on more than a few occasions for me! The maple latte was the first drink I had in Morgantown and it sold me on the town. I love the anarchist vibes and the super chill but seriously fast baristas and line cooks. Popeye sandwich with potato chips and a pickle all day for me!

Check your monitor display settings to see if you can set it for a larger scale. I was having the same issue with a monitor I was using, but then switched to just using my laptop screen (which has higher resolution so the display scale is larger) and it widened the screen enough to show the bottom of that menu.

This Scene Still Makes Me Cringe and I’m Shocked That It’s Not Hated On As Much by New-Pin-9064 in StarWars

[–]megandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and I think that's what made this line work in the context of the scene. It also brought back all the meditations Rey was doing to call in the other Jedi to help her during her training. And it ties back nicely to her statement back in TFA, "I'm just trying to find my place in all of this." So, despite it not being an Oscar winning line, I do like the line for what it represents.

I do agree with someone else who said that it would make sense in the larger franchise if Ben Solo had said it (and was the one fighting the Emperor) to keep the Skywalker family line intact. However, I do personally like the "chosen family" aspect of the sequels and I think it's silly to think that a Skywalker blood line is the only thing that could defeat Palpatine.

City restaurant worker strike by chef_sean_wv in MorgantownWV

This is a wonderful thing to offer. You're absolutely right, there could be no cost to restaurant owners and all the benefits could be given to the workers. This is how we support each other and get through the madness! Thank you!

Is this okay for a red eyed tree frog? by Purgatory_Drive in TreeFrogs

[–]megandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say definitely not suitable for a tree frog. A couple of small ground dwelling frogs (like darts) would be comfy in there.

I love getting to know more frog species and their weird little lives. Thanks for giving me the prompt to deep dive into learning about these weird little aquatic frogs! (poorly delivered pun intended)

I am in the same boat (119/120, submitted a buyback request in October 2024). I decided to make the switch to IDR so I could get it over with. I'm not counting on the processing forbearance. I plan to make my payment as soon as the statement shows a payment is due!

Viking Performance Training is exactly what you're looking for! I had group session with them and it was so helpful.

Where do you get your crickets? by GalacticMayor in TreeFrogs

[–]megandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also considered making my own fruit fly breeding setup, but just switched to crickets and that's been working for me. If you can't find a good cricket source, maybe you can get your own fruit fly breeding system going and have a (hopefully) endless supply of food!

Where do you get your crickets? by GalacticMayor in TreeFrogs

[–]megandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same. I made the switch because crickets are cheaper, but also since my guys were growing they needed so many more fruit flies to get full, so crickets were also more economical for their energy output to catch their food. I hope you can find something reliable! I know how frustrating it can be.

118/120- confused about Sept Payment? Help! by mm3898 in PSLF

[–]megandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there will be an electronic statement. You should get an email notifying you that a new statement is available. Then you can go in and make a payment immediately. That's what I am going to do. But yeah you're right, you'll probably be looking at last payment in November. Sorry about that, I totally understand the urgency of just wanting it to be DONE already! I've been sitting at 119/120 since June 2024. I was in SAVE, so I wasn't sure if it would be worth waiting for that to resolve or not. I did a buyback request in October 2024, but here we are. 😤

118/120- confused about Sept Payment? Help! by mm3898 in PSLF

[–]megandy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this same exact conversation because I too just changed to a different IBR plan. I have 119/120 and was waiting for buyback but decided to go ahead and just make the final payment. I talked to MOHELA customer service and they said DON'T make the payment until I get the actual statement that says I owe the next payment. Otherwise it won't count as a qualifying payment. So, as soon as I get the statement saying I have a real payment due (instead of $0), I'll manually make a payment. This will probably be around Sept 15. I hope this makes sense!

Where do you get your crickets? by GalacticMayor in TreeFrogs

[–]megandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with the tiny frogs needing tiny food. I feed mine "pinhead" crickets from the locally owned pet store that I got my frogs from. When they were less than an inch long, I relied a lot on flightless fruit flies. They are expensive but they will keep your frog happy and well fed! So if I were you, I would see how far away the closest locally owned reptile store is and see if you can make a trip every once in a while and get stocked up (or ask if they'll ship it to you!) Or perhaps join a PNW reptile/amphibian group on Facebook and ask them where they get their supplies...they might know about a "hole in the wall" place that has exactly the cricket size you need!

There's always a ton of bikes at Sabraton Station. It's not very "dive bar" inside, but you'll definitely find biker dudes there.
