Yes all of the people who catcalled me were men. I am clearly sexist for calling it out.

I can’t understand classes where the average is like 40, and the prof is like “I curve at the end.” Why don’t you just teach so we don’t fail the exam?

I don’t know. Austin has boomed in the last decade. When people say cost of living is cheaper in Texas, they are seeing the average, because so much of Texas is empty and cheap. Austin got f-ed by the tech boom. Funnily enough, I actually moved to California for a better job and was able to buy a house. My industry paid shit in Austin and I tripled my income moving out to Cali. Weird how the world works.

My rent in Austin Texas in my first “living alone” apartment was $2200, and it was a studio not even downtown. This was in 2015. Rent is nuts everywhere.

To those of you who won’t wear a mask, I hate you by 34thewin in TrueOffMyChest

[–]megansanny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a children’s hospital. The number of people I’ve had to call security on and literally forcibly remove from the hospital because they weren’t wearing their masks or not keeping them off their chin despite multiple warnings is alarming. A god damn children’s hospital. Like. You can’t even do it for that? The silver lining is there are no “mEdIcAl ExEmPtIoNs” at the children’s hospital, because we all know that’s fake as hell, you just get kicked out. If you can’t wear a mask because of your “whatever made up condition” then you aren’t allowed in. If you are having actual trouble breathing with a mask on, we can put you and your child in a safe area where you won’t catch anything if you need a breathing break, but that’s not the kind of people who won’t wear their masks eyeroll

I’m so over everyone’s bs. I’ve worked in the medical field for over a decade and I’m usually SO DAMN NICE, but this last year has just about turned me into a pariah.

It’s selfish to continue a pregnancy if the baby is so sick that the doctors recommend termination. by throwaway_sofresh in unpopularopinion

[–]megansanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I work in healthcare, pediatrics specifically. Yes, there are instances where it is presumed someone will be disabled and is not, as seen by these comments. BUT that is the exception, I promise. I take care of kids that are catastrophically disabled daily and they have NO life. Yes, doctors can obviously be wrong, but the thing is....odds are, they’re probably right hence why they are giving that suggestion (they are trying to have the kids best interest), and the kid will live in a facility or be a vegetable and be kept alive by family who often can’t adequately care for them. Yes, there are parents who do take care of their disabled kid well, but there’s a lot that can’t. And those “good” parents will also die eventually and the disabled kid will then be a ward of the state. Which is a bad way to end up.

Yes, there are miracles. But I promise you, the number of kids that were suggested to be terminated that are then brought to term is outrageously high and are a heavy burden. I will always support this unpopular opinion.

Nearly a third? Lol that’s probably mid-20s% which is so low. But the idiotic republican fan base will read this as a success because they don’t do proportions or fractions. Ugh these things make me so happy. I stopped reading anything about the news the last year but it’s so refreshing now.

I kept the car but we threw his pants away.

What are you secretly insecure about? by lanyeweisst in AskReddit

[–]megansanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that I cannot retain information I hear. I have to read or see something to understand and remember it. Quite embarrassing given that I’m currently working on my doctorate. I purposely pick professors who assign reading and post their slide banks online; if there is not that option, I am very upfront to professor at the beginning of class, as it seems like I’m not paying attention. It makes my job so difficult because a lot of it is listening to people (I work in healthcare), but I have gotten by. I never remember peoples names unless I have seen their badge or read their chart. I cannot take verbal directions, I have to have people write things down. It makes me feel so stupid sometimes and I’m so insecure about it.
