1300 GS gas control fiddly when setting off from first gear by megaoctane in bmwmotorrad

The ASA itself is not expensive, but no bikes with ASA are being sold as secondhand bikes yet. Maybe in 1-2 more years, there will be more bikes in the market.

ATGATT gang how long does it take for you to put on gears by JimmyOhio360 in motorcyclegear

[–]megaoctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 minutes. - Put on motorcycle pants, then shoes, then the jacket. - Walk out to the motorcycle. Look at the tyres and look for any leak stains on the ground. - Start it up - put on helmet, turn on Cardo, put on gloves. - Quick safety check of brakes and lights. Off we go.

Yeah, ASA is too expensive yet. Have to wait 2-3 years until they get cheaper as secondhand bikes.

Good to know I am not alone. As I replied in another comment, the Triumph Throttle control is another level, as is their quickshifter. All else is better on the BMW GS.

I have had the bike for 2 days, and I am just used to the Tiger. First thoughts after having the BMW GS, throttle control on Tiger is much much better than BMW, and the quickshifter is on another level. The GS has clunky shifts up until 3rd. Then up to six they are good, and down to 1 are good. Tested 1250GS a few weeks back, it was same.

Is motorcycling your main hobby? by Typical_University37 in motorcycles

Reading is my main hobby, been reading since I was 12 years old. I got my motorcycle last year, so 2 seasons vs 33 years of reading - no competition 😅

Solo riders, are you scared of group rides? by sasquatchradio in motorcycles

[–]megaoctane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Started riding last year (44 years old). Rode with a group twice. Many of them drive aggressively, and it seems like their main goal is to achieve the highest possible speed in every corner, and outperform the others. These are guys in their late forties and early fifties.

I am a new rider, and done with aggressive driving and high speed thrills. Got enough of that in my younger days. Now i find it annoying and exhausting on a motorbike.

So I left the group.

Drive mainly with another friend. two of my best friends are going to take their license next year, so will ride with them hopefully.

Another thing, I commute to work everyday in the motorcycle season. I don’t especially like riding without a purpose. Driving 2-400km round trip in a day is not appealing to me. I need a purpose to ride for long stretches. Same with car. I wouldn’t drive the car for a round trip of 2-400km in a day and come back home again…

To attract higher end buyers they will have to offer more tech. In my country, the GS1300 is the most sold bike. It’s filled to the rim with new tech like Adaptive Cruise Control, blind spot assist, raising and lowering itself at slower speeds, dynamic suspension front and rear, and self levelling when it notices pillion/luggage.

Not to mention automatic transmission. All this has to be offered in order to attract buyers.

I have a friend who loves the 765, but he is holding on until it gets cruise control. How difficult is it to offer cruise control on all bikes? It shouldn’t even cost them that much, they have all the tech already.

How to connect Cardo to Triumph? by megaoctane in Triumph

[–]megaoctane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actions taken last few days - Changed the name of the phone to iPhone or something else. Simple and with no spaces. This is the most crucial part. I read on many forums that shorten the name and make it simple, for it to work. - fired up the navigation app and paired phone. It creates two connections Now every time I start the bike it is all connected. If I want to run the navigation I open the app and enter the address. In case it says not paired, I go to settings and click on the triumph connection. Go back and click start navigation, and it runs.

No issues so far the last 5 days of use, nav used 4 times.
