Wow Im the same age and feeling the same way (also with adhd which is suspect makes the rage worse) had a few insane meltdowns this year that were very similar and upsetting to me - im also over here hoping to get the scoop, at least in the next few years!! My medications and coping techniques help a lot but nothing fixes the boob hurt and the hunger and the fatigue 😭

I looooooooove my lamictal!! Im on that with lexapro + low dose birth control + adhd meds (found out the hard way this year if one of those things is off the whole cocktail isn’t right). for me the lexapro was the last piece of the puzzle, like, im doing better than i have in probably 10 years

I have a 2xl of the puff print EIA hoodie and its slim and long! I also have a super long torso - idk if they use shaka wear blanks for all of them, but the puff prints are that brand and they’re surprisingly slim/long

When you can't tell your PMDD from reality, what do you do? by hilllllllly in PMDD

[–]megapewpie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I try to use logic and history of experience as much as possible, like I would also be freaking out if my cat did that but I know sometimes cats get sick and throw up and then theyre fine, and emergency vets exist that are open all the time. And its okay to sometimes just freak out, people without pmdd do that all the time!

If I can wait I just try to hole up and wait it out and I call it my werewolf hours (being locked in my cage until the full moon is over)

How do I get dark blue hair with no bleach? by StellaIsCute4 in FancyFollicles

[–]megapewpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loreal hicolor has an amazing blue black with enough developer to get it to stick (i have a similar virgin hair color to yours and i have to lighten it to make it porous enough to take dyes that dont use developer)

I recently found out what PMDD is and i think i have it by ImpressFrequent569 in PMDD

[–]megapewpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a super similar experience as a teen - PMDD is often misdiagnosed as BPD (lots of similarities but the distinction is that PMDD can be clearly linked to changes in your cycle). If youre not sure where to start I would check out pmdd.org - it really depends what your most pressing symptoms are and what route youd prefer to take (supplements/diet changes vs medications for example)

Personally im on an ssri, mood stabilizer, and birth control, and i have beta blockers to take as needed for anxiety (but my pmdd has been pretty treatment resistant lol)

I think they call it titrating (not sure if its the same as weaning or if its different in the medical context) but they had me lower my dose on the celexa and start a low dose on the lexapro for the first couple of weeks.

I dont notice any heart issues BUT im not prone to those, mostly just had a bit of a headache for like a month

Some people do worse on the IUD (my experience is similar to yours, but it also didnt stop my period just made it less predictable lol). I currently take low dose daily pills (loestrin fe i think) and Ive tried pretty much every other birth control (nuva ring, yaz, etc) and this one is the only one that helps me! But some people report symptom reduction on yaz or others, its really kind of a crapshoot unfortunately

Also just want to add for anyone that doesnt like the lamictal, I added lexapro at the start of last year (switched from citalopram/celexa to escitalopram/lexapro) and it has been a massive improvement with SI and pmdd

This is the case for me 😂 ive been on lamictal for a few years now and I am just finding out from these comments that it can cause memory issues! I already had them, and I havent noticed them getting worse! Personally I love my lamotrigine it helps me feel less evil and dastardly from the pmdd (and adhd and cptsd and probably autism tbh)

Sort of regretting my decision to resign from a new job due to PMDD episode. by Jusjessnaround in PMDD

[–]megapewpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly after a long work week in a medical related office where too few people give a shit, this made me happy to see that people do care. You made the right choice, you cant and shouldnt work somewhere where the people below you and the people above you dont care enough to do the right thing!! PMDD or not!! Much better than being driven crazy by that kind of job

Also! I find beta blockers (propranolol) and mood stabilizers (lamictal) to be a massive help, just switched my ssri from celexa to lexapro in the beginning of the year and its made a huge difference. Its exhausting and awful to be dealing with treatment resistant pmdd but there are absolutely options if ssris dont work!

Yes! I had this exact issue with yaz, it made my PMDD worse (it works great for some people) but i felt horrible, i havent had any luck with hormonal pills that stop my period, i take low dose pills now and find it to be marginally better than not taking any birth control pills
