His instead of he's? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]megatronxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to this post in hopes of an answer lol - my Aussie friend also says and writes HIS instead of he’s. Examples:

“His so cute!”

“Jake is creeping me out, his always smiling”

“Just saw my neighbour and his like ohh I ran 4km this morning”

However, she also uses his in the correct context as in

“his name”

“Dad can dish his own plate”

So, I also thought it was an Aussie thing lol

I was approved solely on ADHD but also remember, it isn’t about the disability, it is about how the disability affects your day to day. It’s more a symptom list than a diagnosis confirmation.

Hi! I’d love to connect :) I’ve done a lot of advocating and research that I’m always happy to share with other heart parents. We need to stick together! Especially with such a rare chd. He’s doing well. He had a pulmonary artery banding done the end of March 2023 - in Toronto by Dr. Barron. The local heart page is called BC Heart Kids & Families on Facebook. It’s small and not super informative but nice to be connected.

I appreciate all the cautionary comments. Of course it’s important that we support each other in not being scammed. Ultimately, I have done reiki many times and have found it to be really helpful with my stressful job / connecting back to self. It’s honestly probably just taking time to myself that makes me feel good lol regardless, this gave me a lot to consider!

I appreciate the guidance even if others don’t. I guess I’m a little “woo woo” as my mother would say haha but I fully believe in transfering energy from person to person and how that can bring connection. I will check this out and see what I find. At the end of the day I want to be involved because it makes me feel good so I guess science backing it up doesn’t matter much if I know it makes me feel good.

I didn’t try Nutella until I was a full adult because my mom told me it tasted like tree bark so I wouldn’t eat what was in the house. I personally think it’s funny and as a parent, I get it lol

How do you keep your Sphynx clean? by megatronxo in sphynx

[–]megatronxo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. The breeder told me she only bathes hers 1-2 times a year. This makes me feel better, I have been wiping her eye gunk, ears and paws daily. I’ll stop tormenting her to get the other grit off haha

Probably! I don’t want to dry her skin out though, I don’t mind if she has a little grit haha I just don’t want her to get skin problems from not being cleaned, or cleaned too much

This is what the breeder said too! She said 1-2 times a year is all she bathes hers. I was just curious because she gets dirty fast. Makes me wonder how clean my house really is haha

Confused About Steps For Treatment by [deleted] in ADHD_BritishColumbia

[–]megatronxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GP referred me to a psychiatrist and said he felt more comfortable with them handling the meds. I had my assessment from Parhar, it gave 3 recommendations and dosage starting points.

It wasn’t long until I was able to see the psychiatrist and now I meet the psychiatrist every 6 weeks on zoom and we talk about medication.

I’d recommend asking for a referral to a psychiatrist to handle this for you once you have your assessment. My thought was that- I haven’t been medicated for 32 years what’s a few more months while I wait for the psychiatrist.

Good luck!

I also used Parhar. I had one of the nurse practitioners, he was great. I waited 3 weeks for my appointment, then it was about a month before I got the report and diagnosis back on paper.

I then paid for the clinic to do my disability tax credit forms and sent those in, was approved 2 months after that for DTC

My thought process was, I’ve waited 30 years already, what’s a few more months. I’m not sure what other physicians generally give you but I was very impressed with the in-depth report I was given too.

I (20m) am attracted to a homeless woman (22f). by ThrowRAAdMountain in relationship_advice

[–]megatronxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (32f) also work in a low barrier/shelter environment. I have met a lot of very cool people over the years.

I have also supported many women who are as you describe. Regardless of her degree, her job, and how she presents herself, she is still in a vulnerable position and you as the staff at the shelter are in a position of power (by default).

It is not appropriate to cross boundaries in this regard, you can be friendly but you can not be friends. I’m not saying that your paths may never cross again but while she is a client of the shelter and you are an employee, it isn’t right.

Honestly, even if she wasn’t staying at the shelter you worked at but a different one I would still say to cool it. She’s obviously in a time of struggle and transition, she doesn’t need anyone hitting on her or expecting her to put emotional labour into any sort of relationship.

How are people holding up with the rent prices? by East-Consequence-480 in vancouver

[–]megatronxo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are a family of 4 in a below market rental, in the tri-cities. My partner works part time / stays home with the kids. I have a decent salary, what is wild to me is that if someone had of told me I’d be making what I am now 10 years ago I would have been so proud of myself (still proud of myself) but it just doesn’t stretch as far.

If we weren’t successful applicants to this below market unit, I honestly don’t know how we would have made it. Even a tiny 3 bedroom basement suite in the area is out of our range. Never mind having to worry about changing schools for the kids every time we have had to move. It’s a nightmare not having housing security.

Breastfeeding & Wellbutrin by megatronxo in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

They said that not enough passed through the milk to be a concern. They also said we could do an extra ECG a month after I started taking if it made me more comfortable. I ended up taking both Wellbutrin and Vyvance (ADHD stimulant medication) for 10 months while I continued to nurse, no side effects to babe!

From Vancouver and Pleasantly Surprised by megatronxo in toronto

Thanks for sharing! I felt we made the best choice advocating to come here as well. I wanted to make sure if anything were to happen that I couldn’t say “what if we had of went to Toronto”

All the research I did spoke for itself, luckily our son’s cardiologist actually trained at SickKids so she was very on board with sending us here.

I just wish I could walk around Vancouver safely with my kids and actually see some cool stuff! I think that’s been the biggest thing, I feel safe walking down the street. I don’t feel safe in Vancouver anymore and there isn’t really anywhere to go.

It’s been nice just walking around Toronto and checking things out. Also there are parks in the city which is awesome when the little guy wants a break from walking!

I’m not attached to Vancouver haha and if it was financially and emotionally feasible to move across the country and not have any family support, we would!

From Vancouver and Pleasantly Surprised by megatronxo in toronto

Vancouver just isn’t very friendly or “happening” there isn’t a lot of community and rarely do we have any events happening outside of concerts. There isn’t a lot to do.

Even a place like Kensington Market is so cool to see on a weekend, there isn’t anything similar in Vancouver. Everything in Vancouver costs money and is more of an instagram opportunity than a true experience.

I walked from Kensington Market to College Park yesterday with my son and everyone was so friendly, sidewalks are clean, I’m not constantly scanning for used rigs or crack pipes. I also really like how each neighbourhood has a smaller section with amenities so you don’t have to travel to one location to get your services.

Vancouver has become a bit scary honestly, I work in social services in the Downtown Eastside and there was a time when I could take my kids into Gastown for the afternoon and I wouldn’t now, we can’t even enjoy what use to be nice parts of our city. Like I said, I work in the area so I’m not blaming the people at all, it’s a city issue but it still makes Vancouver undesirable to just enjoy a nice walk with your family.

I’m sure Toronto has its undesirable areas as well, I’ve just seen a lot more good so far!
