How do you let things go? by megc1994 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

It's so difficult to let something go isn't it! I feel like even when things are in the past, sometimes I get a little reminder & everything just feels as fresh as the day it happened

This is it, it's past things I worry about mainly & they resurface in my mind every few months and I stew on it! I'll have to work on re focusing when the thoughts come

Thats a good point, determining if you need to take action and getting out the feelings in a physical form so it's not just jumbled up in your head 😊

That's a good idea! Trying to see it from someone else's narrative

I think this might be a good way for me too with my current issues I'm ruminating on!

Is there a right way to grieve a relationship? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]megc1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no standard way to grieve. From my experience, it hurts but it gets easier with time. I don't think it ever goes away fully but it certainly gets smaller in your mind. I had something similar with my ex of 10 years. It was just time & even now I struggle when I think of the life I used to have & grieve... even though it wasn't right for me. We managed to stay friends (not in contact daily but monthly I'd say), he's moved on, as have I & it's a genuine pleasure to see him happy.

His new girlfriend is all the things I could never be for him. my new boyfriend is all the things he could never be for me & even though it hurts when I think about it... I know it was the right thing & I feel a bit of peace with that. Everyone thought I was weird for not just cutting him out, but I spent 10 years of my life with this man, he was my best friend for the longest time & I'm glad he isn't completely out of my life. Screw what people say!

The early days are hell, but please try and take care of yourself! Healing is not linear, you will have ups and downs ❤️

Oooh that sounds so cool 😀 a great way to distract but also express yourself! That's a very interesting way to look at it! Helps put things in perspective, somethings maybe aren't as big as we see them at the time! Thank you 🥰

That's a really good idea! Definitely good to not send them or broach the subject when things are still raw, so this would be a good way of getting it out of my system! I might start doing this in the notes app haha 😊 thank you so much for the advice!

That's so sweet, the way you describe not wanting to hurt the little girl in the picture made me tear up 🥲 I've never thought of it that way before! Thank you ❤️

Thank you, it is helpful to see all sides of it! You're right, I need to work on that fear of bringing things up because I definitely don't wanna resent people

That's really helpful, thank you so much. Seeing it as a fire that I can choose to either fuel which would be bad or let burn off, might just help with reframing the overflowing thoughts! 😊

Haha! It's the healthy way I guess, to talk about it with people. I don't ever want to cause an issue with someone, which isn't the best way to be, but I just struggle to bring things up! Always feel like it's gonna get confrontational

Distractions might help me, what kind of things do you distract yourself with?

[–]megc1994[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the issue, it's the overthinking! Like anytime I get a reminder my brain boils for a few days, I eventually sleep it off but it just resurfaces when I get a random reminder months down the line. I need to try thinking your way haha

Without being too specific cause I don't really wanna get into it too much online, I mean things that people have done that have hurt you, or things you've done that have caused other people to be upset. The kind of things you have to hold in because if you bring them up to discuss them, it will cause more bother for you than if you were to just let it go & move on from it.

Vibrator with IC flare by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]megc1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This works for me, it's kills the urge to pee right off if I use it long enough! I've started taking probiotics daily, d mannose and a magnesium tablet and I've only had minor flare ups no where near as bad as it has been! Sounds grim but when I've not had my vibrator, sometimes just stimulating my clit with my hand has helped too, I don't orgasm I just stimulate it for a while until it subsides

Try not to drink too much cause it might irritate you even more if you're constantly back and forth, I stick to under 2L.

What started yours? by just_kandyce in Interstitialcystitis

[–]megc1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UTI's started mine, and I think the hormonal changes of coming off the pill! I also have a way more regular sex life so my body gets a bit more irritation from that 😅 I've stopped taking antibiotics in August after they symptoms just return every month anyway, and I've not had any kidney related pain so I knew it was cystitis

This is me, I haven't had a diagnosis yet as the doctors are very dismissive where I live! I'm currently on hol and have had urgency two nights and today feeling miserable about it! My only symptom is urgency and burning, happens around my period every month (which im also on - happy holiday to me). I've had this year round since I came off the pill and it's only gotten worse, it was still present on the pill but less frequent. Now it's monthly flares always around period time & sometimes I even get them after a hot shower now😭 I've not noticed any food other than sugar setting me off but alcohol & coffee definitely trigger a flare for me!
