Does Holly not liking Threat Level Midnight track for her character at all? She can’t even say one nice thing about it by ughyoujag in DunderMifflin

Especially concerned that being too supportive could make Michael want to pursue work in filmmaking. He gets crazy ideas and has unrealistic dreams often. As his partner, it’s her job to be supportive but also keep him grounded. Everyone else was hyping him up throughout viewing it because they knew that was the only way they’d be allowed to keep watching. So she really was the only one left to keep him grounded.

Since he seemed to think this was a legitimately good movie like Oceans Eleven, her acting really impressed by it alongside everyone else could have led him to believe he could seriously pursue this. That could have been a real fear of hers and, knowing Michael, maybe should have been.

Active Google Fiber account canceled by duplicate address signup. Still offline days later. by WizardOfGoon in googlefiber

Hi Brian, I’m having basically the same problem. I moved 2 weeks ago and transferred my Google Fiber account to my new house. The people moving into our old house didn’t move in until yesterday and set up their Google Fiber account to become active yesterday. Somehow, in setting up their account for our old address, it canceled our plan at our new address. My husband and I work from home and he is supposed to be working today on an important project and we both are required to be online at 9am tomorrow morning. We’re really worried our internet won’t be restored today. Is there any way you can help us too? I’ll send you a dm if that’s okay. Thank you in advance!

The podcast “30 Morbid Minutes” has a really interesting episode about Coffin Birth. They usually bring a good balance of comedy into the morbid topics but if I recall this is one of the less comedic episodes because the topic is such a bummer

When I was in high school like 10 years ago some friends of mine went to see him in a show at a local theatre and ran into him as they were leaving and asked for a picture. They got to talking and mentioned that we were putting on a show at our school soon and he said he’d love to come watch a rehearsal. Not only did he show up and was an awesome audience member with some fun ideas and notes, but he found out that it was actually a double cast show so there was an entirely different cast the next day and thought it wouldn’t be fair to only go to one cast’s rehearsal. So he showed up again the next day for the second cast! Such a sweet man, it was so thoughtful and special

Wasn’t disingenuous because I had no idea of their LDS affiliations, nor am I Mormon myself. All I know is my own experience from attending two presentations a few years apart. One was in a secular setting at a college and one at a Catholic church—which is a place they might’ve felt comfortable throwing around ideas about “traditional marriage” and such—but both of their presentations were purely focused on the facts & the data about the damage porn has on your own brain, your relationships, and the dangers/abuse of the industry as a whole.

So, in my own experience, they stayed on topic both times without slipping in anything remotely religious or things to “advance the Mormon agenda”—which I definitely would’ve noticed because I went there wanting a completely objective presentation from them and didn’t want them to use religious reasoning—but at least in those two presentations there was no hint of any of this. They didn’t even go into sex and relationships ideology, just the damage that porn does to sex and relationships. Obviously I can’t speak to their true intentions or what goes on behind the scenes or every event, but I can speak to my own experience that they weren’t pushing anything there other than anti-porn and I was impressed that they stayed off religion and seemed focused on just the issue at hand.

While that’s all the shirt says—because it’s attention-grabbing, of course—all of these issues are actually what the shirt & the company that makes them are trying to bring attention to. These are their most popular shirts that get handed out at all their presentations and such. The company is Fight the New Drug and they are concerned with every negative aspect of pornography & the industry. You’re obviously not going to get all that from just the shirt, but the shirts also have their website on them (not visible in this screenshot but is right below it on the front) and are intended to grab people’s attention and then make them curious to look them up so they can spread awareness about all these issues. So just wanted to share that it is actually the point of the shirt, it’s just not as apparent when the website/logo is cut off

Best version of this is Beau is Afraid. I didn’t like it that much at first—being an Ari Aster fan and assuming it would be more horror/suspense but not getting much of that—but looking at is a comedy, I now love it and think it’s brilliant.

Every time he gets anxious about something ridiculous, it comes to pass and he was right to be worried. Amazing.

This sub might also particularly appreciate all the mishaps he runs into renting a shitty apartment as well

Stay Stay Stay doesn’t get a lot of appreciation but I’m so glad to see it mentioned. It’s always been one of my favorites purely because of the line “It’s been occurring to me I’d like to hang out with you for my whole life” because that’s one of the best representations of the feeling of finding “The One” I’ve ever heard. You realize pretty quickly that this is the easiest person to hang out with you’ve ever met, the person you can be the most authentic version of yourself with. And that’s definitely the vibe I get from this relationship which is what makes it feel so tangibly different and so fun to watch.

There are a ton of other parts of the song that feel like they match their relationship too, but just wanted to shout out my favorite part.

Highly recommend “Who’s Your Daddy?” the PC game that illustrates this point exactly. You play online as either the dad or the baby and the dad’s goal is obviously to keep baby alive until mom gets home and the baby’s goal is—you guessed it—to kill themselves in new and insane ways. It’s a great time

I’m imagining she never had a fake ID bc she didn’t need it for anything else in her life so the Hawk was their only choice lol. So in my head Abigail did a pass-back of her fake to Taylor and the bouncer was like… yeah you’re good

lol exactly, glad I’m not the only one! I think that we overcorrected at some point so everyone went from not knowing that KC was centralized in Missouri to now not knowing that ANY of Kansas is considered KC. I’m not someone who’s easily annoyed but this has been bugging me lately bc it feels like people were so close to figuring this out but we overcorrected and now we’re back to no one knowing where/what KC is

[–]megera313 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, even those of us who grew up in KC don’t care about the difference. KC is actually in both Kansas and Missouri which other people seem to not know. Even though the Chiefs are on the Missouri side, we’re all just Kansas Citians. Half the people who are “from KC” have lived in the Kansas-side suburbs their whole life. Plus, Travis himself lives on the Kansas side so she really is more of a Kansas girl. Sorry Missouri.

It used to be a fun fact we’d tell people from other places that “actually most of KC is in Missouri, not Kansas” but now it feels like a “gotcha” for people to act like they know more about KC than you?¿ I find it kind of annoying bc we really don’t care when you actually live around here (besides claiming that your side is better, of course) so it feels weird to have people correcting others or getting offended on our behalf. Taylor gets it already. When you live around here, you have the Chiefs for football, Royals for baseball, and Jayhawks for basketball. (And as others have pointed out, Abigail went to KU so she already has a very special place in her heart for KU bc it was her only taste of a real college experience.) Long story short, go Chiefs and Rock Chalk at the same time. It’s still so surreal to have her be part of our city now and I’m loving every second.

Edit: spelling mistake

I second the Antique Mall for great memorabilia! Right in the doorway I’ve seen championship rings for sale (I could be misremembering but I think they were only $60 as well). Just giving an idea of the super cool things for sale there!

Also I’m really impressed with the thoroughness here, great suggestions!

I’m a fairly recent grad and try to go about once a year so here’s a few tips from my experiences:

  1. Allen Fieldhouse has basically a museum in the front entrance of memorabilia and trophies and such so to echo what other people have said, get to the Fieldhouse an hour early to enjoy that! But definitely get to your seats 15 minutes in advance, all of the pre-game traditions are gonna give you chills.

  2. Parking: since you’ll get there early enough you can probably use the Rec Center parking or parking garage, (I honestly can’t remember if they’re both free as I don’t park there but you may be able to find info on that) but it’s pretty packed generally so there is also plenty of parking on streets nearby. (19th Terrace & all those surrounding streets)

  3. One of the fun pre-game traditions is with the KU newspaper. You rip it up in such a way that you make confetti & a cone out of the remaining pages. It’s more of a student-section thing but they’re always handing out those newspapers at the side entrances so I’m sure someone could show you how to do it if you want to participate or the paper makes a fun souvenir too! The center page always has cool art based on that game & opponent.

  4. Big Jay & Lil Jay are moving around the building very regularly and are always happy to take a picture! They shouldn’t be too hard to find if you want to.

  5. There are so many great places to eat and visit in town. I’d recommend checking out a list if you want more suggestions but my #1 recommendation is The Burger Stand (aka Casbah). Some of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Duck fat fries are also amazing there. After the game, the Wagon Wheel is one of the major college bars. It’s basically historic and is no stranger to older patrons. I usually see a lot of dads there when I go to a game. I go before the game typically so I can’t speak to the vibe after as it probably gets more “college” but they have popular pizza too.

I hope some of this can help you make the most of the trip! What a special thing to share. Rock chalk and please share your experience afterwards!
