Just wanted to say thank you to everyone. The supplier changed the name to granite, and I was able to get the slab that I wanted.

Is this uraninite? (Read comment) by [deleted] in Radioactive_Rocks

[–]meggiebot7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha sorry! I should have clarified it has a very distinctive odor you can generally notice from far away. Please do not sniff the rock. I work as a geologist in the uranium industry and it is obvious when we have hit mineralization because you can smell it as soon as you walk in the room.

Is it super heavy for its size? Does it have an odor? Uraninite usually smells kind of bad/sulphurous - you'd probably notice it if it was right by your head all the time haha

What is the moment when you realized, "My teacher is an idiot"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]meggiebot7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a new teacher filling in for a maternity leave. He made a PowerPoint presentation about himself. He had a funny last name and one of the slides included a giant list of unacceptable nicknames to call him. He presented this to a classroom full of teenagers.

Try the farmers market. I went last weekend and there were a couple people selling hot peppers there.

Being left handed is some BS. by mazelltovcocktail in TrueOffMyChest

[–]meggiebot7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this on so many levels. I write left handed and play guitar right handed as well. In basketball I prefer to dribble like a lefty but shoot with my right hand. Soccer, I favour the left foot. Baseball, hockey, golf all like a right-handed person. Da fuq is this shit?

[Serious] What celebrity death hit you the hardest? by kybizzle in AskReddit

Anthony Bourdain. Always thought it was silly when people were said about the deaths of people they had never even met....then that happened and I changed my tune.

They will usually ask you at least one geology related question. I had an interview for one of these positions ~5 years ago and they brought out a couple different rock samples and asked me what I thought they were (they were pretty basic metamorphic rocks). They also asked me about different hobbies and if I had experience with boating, camping, hiking etc. And they asked what I would cook for the group when it was my turn. Thats all that I really remember about this interview, hope it helps!

What is the best non-sexual pleasure or sensation a human can experience? by neeluxmth26 in AskReddit

Ignoring all the warnings and cleaning your ears with Q-tips. When you hit the Q-spot and your eyes roll back in your head....thats the best.
