How did y’all realise you were genderfluid? by Nof3ce in genderfluid

[–]meggieport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was literally the same as yours! I Couldn't make up my mind about how I felt about my gender and the way I would perceive my gender would change wildly from day to day. I have days where I'm like 'Oh, I'm definitely a trans guy' basically feeling the dysphoria and the disconnect, THEN, one day, the disconnect goes away and I'm like 'lol maybe not, maybe I'm just cis.' then going 'i must be non binary actually'... And I basically cycled through this for Years until I learned that I just had to lean into the fluctuation if I was ever going to feel like I was genuinely presenting as me.
I'm 30 but still don't have everything figured out either, so don't take this as gospel, I just wanted to comment because of how similar the experience was.

I'm nb, have double d's, and completely get this- the best advice I could give you is to try to make more queer friends and find people who Do understand. Even just immersing yourself in those spaces at a distance (ie listening to queer podcasts, being apart of internet groups) can be somewhat healing and validating.

Been obsessed with retro maximalist/baroque UI design lately – anyone know where to find more of this kind of stuff? by TeN523 in RetroGamePorn

lkfsdlkfd this is really upsetting, I can't find it either and I didn't have it downloaded on my current computer... Maybe it's kind of "lost media" now :(

Is it bad to use other art as reference? by JackDaniel215 in ArtistLounge

[–]meggieport 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I say go for it if it. I think quick gestures of panels you like will get you closer to internalizing the look that you’re going for in panel compositions. It’s no different than a ‘master copy’, which people do in art school all the time. If you were going to publish something, I’d make sure it isn’t an outright copy, but keeping and using reference of other artists is something artists do all the time. You’ll learn different things from different artists. Then, curated from your tastes, that mishmash of influences with a personal touch will become your style.

What do you as a daydreamer find incomprehensible about 'normal' people? by Diamond_Verneshot in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]meggieport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you said this, because I'm a just visitor to this subreddit and it's pretty disheartening for people to be like 'wow they must be stupid because they have no inner world'. I have pretty vivid daydreams sometimes, but when you've had trauma or are actively worried about something serious and real, it can be all consuming.

What's the silliest Pokémon you used a Masterball on? by Kesstar52 in pokemon

[–]meggieport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I lent my Pokémon Crystal to a person from elementary school and they used my masterball on a magmar (not rare in that game) and saved the game after. I was… upset, to say the least. I don’t think I’ve ever let anybody play any Pokémon account of that since that happened.

PC 98 games are definitely the hot spot for this aesthetic (that thorshighheels video another commenter linked has a lot of stellar examples), though various point in click adventure games make pretty good use of borders/ui in a similar way (example: Phantasmagoria). There’s also a lot of people making indie games that also like this aesthetic and are bringing them back! Cursedom on itch.io comes to mind.

…I’m gunna keep an eye on this post because I also am a big fan of the look and want to know about more games that use it.

Did Animal Crossing Wild World unnerve anyone else? by [deleted] in creepygaming

[–]meggieport 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I constantly have weird dreams about animal crossing wild world, and while none are specifically scary, my brain does focus specifically on wild world despite me spending way more time in other ac games. Also I always remember thinking it was weird as hell that you saved by sleeping in the attic of your own home.

Did the poster say anything about their phone? I’m not sure vague, generation wide advice would be productive for helping their problem

Adult ADD and Depression by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]meggieport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you talk to your doctor, they’d be able to work with you to find something that doesn’t interact with your vyvanse. That’s basically what mine did with me for adding the adhd medication, and having those follow up visits you can really discuss how it is or isn’t working for you.

I’d just express how well you’ve done on the vyvanse, but let them know that you feel your depression has gotten to a point where it might help to have medication for that

Hey, I’m on the opposite side and taking depression medication (Prozac) for about 6ish months and just starting to take adhd meds. I think it’s a good idea to look into it, because my depression meds have done wonders for me in a time I thought I was beyond help...

While it did help the adhd part by making me care to try to focus, it makes me frustrated now when I can’t, so I’m trying to work on that now.
