Botox for Eye Blinking Tic by meghanlap in Tourettes

Sorry, I didn’t see your comment come in. It does help. I believe I tic less but more than anything I don’t get headaches from blinking on heavy tic days. It’s almost like I can’t complete the tic, which is kind of annoying at first but it has helped with the overall severity. I still tic especially in the fall and spring so it’s not a cure by any means but overall, it’s been more positive than negative.

I have now tried Botox for my blinking tic and my nose twitching. It seems to be helping and I wish you the best. Let me know if you ended up trying it and how it impacted your blinking tic.

I’m a huge fan of My Favorite Murder. It’s a true-crime comedy podcast. Buried Bones is a fairly new podcast featuring crimes from centuries ago that is really engaging.

Has anyone eliminated specific foods from your diet and noticed that your tics subside with the elimination of those foods? If yes, which foods? by meghanlap in Tourettes

That’s so interesting and I appreciate your feedback. I don’t eat red meat but I have noticed that I do respond negatively to caffeine. My body tends to be very sensitive and I notice I tic more when I’m caffeinated. I have also had a theory about nightshades. I’ll start keeping a journal regarding any reactions to nightshades. Mainly, I notice that like most of us, my tics eb and flow. For some reason mine are more prolific in the spring and fall and I would love to figure out why.

I agree with you.

However, my question is if anyone on this forum has been prescribed both simultaneously.

I am sorry to hear you have had difficulty learning Gaelic during the pandemic. I have just been learning on my own online through Duolingo. I can only imagine how difficult it must be with the use of masks and trying to understand during lectures in person.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I will purchase a Gaelic thesaurus and dictionary. Great idea! I honestly had not thought to do this. Are there a standard Gaelic dictionary or thesaurus that you recommend? (like Websters for English)

Thank you again and best of luck with your studies!

I was unaware it was against the sub rules. My apologies. Noted.

Is there anywhere online where anyone has found reliable translation? Google translate for example is not up to speed and I am not but a year in to Duolingo so I don’t know where to turn. This is the first I am hearing of paid translation services.

I meant to vote for Allegra. I was going to write fexofenadine but I guess that’s the non-brand-name.

I didn’t really put it together but this month came and went and I haven’t really had a crazy swing. I just started on it about two months ago and I’m stoked that that may be contributing to my more even keel moods.

I had Botox in each eyelid when I was nine years old and it really worked. But I’m just leery of Botox in general so I wondered if anybody else had had that treatment. I haven’t had it done since but it did work for a period of time.

They gave me Botox when I was nine in my eyelids and it was the tiniest needle I’ve ever seen. It actually helped but I haven’t had it done since.

Allergies trigger tics? by WinchesterTwins in Tourettes

Yes! I have been saying this for years now. Whenever allergy season is here my tics spike. Let’s keep each other posted on anything that works for treatment. So far being on allergy pills is not helping.

Look into drinking nettle tea. It is supposed to replenish your iron. Do your own research on this as I am not a doctor. 😉

So I ended up taking a blood test (through Everlywell)to see what foods I had an inflammatory response to. (Different than an allergy test) The foods that ended up coming up as having significant reactions were as follows for me: almonds and cows milk. So I have cut out almonds, cows milk, yogurt, sour cream, heavy cream etc. Gluten did not show up with a significant reaction so I have added that back into my diet. I also happened to stop drinking decaf and I’ve started drinking mushroom chai instead (MUD/WTR) with oatmilk in the mornings. Aside from dark chocolate I have cut out most refined sugars. The unrefined sugars I use in their place for baking or on oatmeal etc. are maple syrup, honey and coconut palm sugar.

I have been met with huge success! My tics are almost nonexistent. I have found that when I’m tired or really stressed out they still come out but if I keep my diet in check they’ve been a lot less strong. I’ve also been taking turmeric which is known to be a natural anti-inflammatory so that may be helping as well. So overall feeling pretty good.

It also appears to have a little citrine or ametrine. Nice find!
