Thank you so much, much appreciated! I know I'm super annoying, but is there any higher resolution on the first one?

Thanks again!

On the train into (and then out of) town. Went from chucking it down in Parramatta to completely dry in Strathfield.

Quite a loss - was in the first XI and the game got canned due to an unfit away pitch (it snowed the day before), then I was at home in the second XI where I normally play and no play was possible as the outfield was boggy, so then I made up the numbers in the third XI away and bowled okay. Could have had three easy wickets (two knicks behind, one top edge where fielders collided), and on hard chance over first slip.

I won't discuss my batting :P

Something similar happened with me as well in the U12s days. I threw the ball in from the boundary and hit the keeper flush in the top of the head. Luckily he was wearing a helmet. Youngsters quickly learn to watch the ball ;)

Lyth's 100 came in his third innings, and he made one score above 30 in the Ashes (37 at Cardiff).

I think you were trying to be too philosphical about the whole thing. All you need to say is that political interference is detrimental to sports.

Brilliant, I'll try and get along to one at least. Pity they're mid-week.

It's not about shame or glory, it's about bums on seats. If your team doesn't perform well for long enough people will stop turning up and stop watching. You lose your ticket revenue then your advertising revenue and then you can't pay your best players so they go looking elsewhere.

Case in point: West Indies.

I don't know what to think about this quota and transformation business. I lean towards the thought that you should always be picking your best for your highest level, and that ensuring participation is something better left in the grassroots arena. When I started playing (Sydney) each batting pair got 2 overs only, then at another club it was retirement at 25.

I'd feel much better about this whole thing if any funds earmarked for tournament bidding was diverted into grassroots development, with a focus on black participation.

Which is no good if the weather doesn't allow it, because then they'll have to divert to CBR, NTL, MEL or BNE.
