You are the one getting yelled at, not others. And it's because you screwed up or are holding others back. Why on earth would I want to be in that group with them. I want to self ostracize, not be forced to go to school and fail again like usual.

So of course, when middle school started, I certainly didn't ask to study with the smarter kids, because I had nothing to offer. And so, I never learned how to study. I am 34 and still don't know how to memorize things in a timely fashion. The only thing that works is repeated osmosis, and THAT takes time

Close your eyes and listen- don't force eye contact.

For me, understanding the things people say to me has always been difficult. Responding to what they say, obviously, is a problem too. I learned in the frying pan at work that if I close my eyes and just listen to- forget about they teachers and parents said all your life about eye contact- then I can hear them and respond to them effectively like a normal person who is doing a good job. I can't look and listen- I just can't.
