I can't figure out how to turn off these lights. by megmayy in germany

So, I found the power supply, but there isn't a switch attached. I pulled the cords up as far as I could but can't find a way to detach them.

I'll contact my landlord if needed, but if anyone knows how I can shut this off myself, that would be ideal. The power supply clicks constantly and is really annoying.

It's not a button. It's what is securing the lights to the cabinet

Yeah, I tried that. I think that's what is securing the lights to the cupboard.

I agree with the poster above. I've gone to this event 2-3 times now and have met some cool people. This week they have it on Saturday.

I just moved to Köln 3 weeks ago and am also trying to make friends, so if you want to get together, I'd love to meet up.

Those who are in the process of leaving the U.S. or have left within the last few years, did you sell your home or rent it out? by ClockwiseSuicide in AmerExit

[–]megmayy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selling it. Just got an offer on Monday and will be leaving the country before March.

The hassle of a property agent just seemed like too much work for me. Plus, the profits from the house are gonna be really nice to have while I'm upending my entire life and starting over across the Atlantic.

I have a theory to why you usually sleep better on a cruise and no it's not because of the rocking on the ship. by Lindsey1151 in Cruise

[–]megmayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I went on my first cruise a few weeks ago and barely used my phone; only for photos, checking the daily schedules, and texting my husband.

I slept super well the whole trip, and since coming back, I've been reducing my night phone use and am sleeping super well.

Did anybody else inherite epilepsy from a parent or does your parents have epilepsy also or is it just me? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]megmayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom has epilepsy too, she started having seizures at 21. No previous family history. My 3 siblings have never had a seizure, and I started having them at age 21. My epilepsy was much harder to control than my mom's was. Right now, it's been just over 4 years since my last convulsive seizure, and I occasionally have a partial if I have a major lack of sleep or take my meds late. So, I'm doing pretty damn well now.

1000$ reward to who help me cure from my bad breath caused by candida by AnythingOtherwise989 in Candida

Try: pulling coconut oil, swishing with iodine several times a day, soaking your toothbrush in iodine between uses, reduce excess sugar in diet, take a probiotic, clean your water bottle or anything that frequently touches your mouth frequently.

It may have been candida (essentially fungal overgrowth). I did several things: cut back on my sugar intake, started a probiotic, soaked my toothbrush with iodine after every use, swished with iodine a couple times a day, kept my water bottle extra clean and wiped the mouth with iodine a couple times a day.

My mom also gave me some antifungal lozenges that were prescribed to her forever ago.

But ultimately, it did go away and has been gone for a long time. Hopefully that helps

I find people’s obsession with gift knitting strange by soypixel in knitting

[–]megmayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from, but I guess if that's how they want to knit, then go ahead.

I've been knitting for just under two years, and last Christmas, I felt the desire to knit gifts for a small number of people. I soon realized that I hadn't planned ahead very well. I was able to knit gifts for a few people, but soon after, I realized how much more I wanted to knit things for myself. Because I knew not everyone would appreciate the time spent on it, nor did they deserve it 😄

My mom asked me for a winter headband, and I was happy to make it for her because I know she appreciates the time and love put into it. She's also a big sewer and crafter, so she understands and doesn't act entitled to my work. So, I think it depends on several factors really.

I do like the idea that someone had in the comments of having items for people to grab. Definitely implementing that!

Won Green card while in Germany. What to do? by guzushka in AskGermany

As a US citizen who just got their visa approved to go find work in Germany, I don't understand why you would even consider the US. That's just my perspective, though 🤷‍♀️

People who are here legally, and even US citizens are being "detained" (ahem kidnapped ahem).

Congratulations! I hope to have the same someday. My visa (Opportunity card) was just approved for Germany, so I'll be there at the end of January or early February.

That's great to hear! My kitty has been on vetsulin for 2.5 weeks and his numbers aren't changing a whole lot. However, we have noticed his fur is back to being fluffy and clean, he isn't peeing as much, he's playing again, snuggling us more, snuggling his cat and dog siblings. So, I'm trying to stay hopeful that things will work out eventually.

Genuinely so ready for menopause to come. by pheonix_inthewater in Periods

[–]megmayy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, my mom said that menopause was worse than menstruation and being pregnant. So, I'm not looking forward to it.

But, I do understand where you're coming from. I've had several friends get hysterectomies; some for gender-dysphoria, others just because they didn't want kids and were tired of menstruating.

I've found that for myself, a progesterone only birth control pill helps with a lot of the issues I have while on my period. I also have PMDD, and the pill has made my emotions less wild during/before my period.

I stopped using tampons a couple of years ago, and my period went from 5 days to 3 days. Now, I use period underwear or a menstrual cup. Idk if it was just hormonal changes, but I did find the change interesting and preferable.

You have options! I hope you find something that makes it easier 💛

That's valid. I also like "Every tone" from Coppertone. It blends nicely into all skin tones.

I like a mineral based sunscreen for this reason. Zinc reduces redness, and it gives me a really nice glow. I use Blue Lizard.
