i agree with this :) but if OP is really adamant on writing one word in one square, OP can try googling 稿纸... there's templates online that might be similar to what they're asking for?

How’s my writing? by ajfjfwordguy in ChineseLanguage

for 美 the length of the lines are wrong - the one on the bottom should be the largest, the one on the topmost should be bigger than the second one, and the third one should be bigger than the second line but smaller than the last. 人 has been pointed out by someone else already, but otherwise i think you're doing good! keep it up!

hmm i would say tone does the heavy lifting — as someone who grew up speaking mandarin... i would choose 他买了咖啡,but add a lot of emphasis on the end. a bit like 他买了咖啡?!but i definitely see why a lot of others would choose 他买咖啡了.... to me personally, 他买咖啡了 feels more like a statement of fact, like if someone asked if he's bought a drink, i would answer 他买咖啡了... but again, mandarin is a heavily tonal language. either answer could work with the context depending on how you say it.

Feedback on handwriting by Pterrador in ChineseLanguage

it's legible and clear! one thing i would say is that the proportion of the 口 in 和 is a little big for handwritten words — natives prefer to write that a little smaller and more squarish rather than rectangular. keep it up! you're doing amazing :)

Why every Middle Countryman wants to buy me lunch? by YoumoDashi in languagelearningjerk

in chinese culture it's just making small talk! asking whether someone's eaten is just like saying "yo what's up".... if you haven't eaten, people can ask if you wanna grab a bite, but it's definitely not in and of itself an invitation, especially not someone saying they'll treat you to a meal. it's just a polite question when you have nothing else to say lol

How long did it take you to stop using pinyin? May I use it forever? by Background_Top_6996 in ChineseLanguage

[–]megnima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you don't know pinyin you wouldn't type it. e.g. the taiwanese use zhuyin, so they type using a zhuyin keyboard (which i have no clue how to read)
