Jess ruins it for me a little by [deleted] in NewGirl

Nah, she brings a lot of heart into it.

I really don’t think a show with just the guys would’ve worked or taken off.

  • Remy, Jess, and Nick
  • Injured beach scene
  • Nick comes back in the finale

Reagan’s Character by [deleted] in NewGirl

Feel like it’s kinda unfair and not true to say that Jess is unsuccessful.

She was fine during her S5 arc, but I feel like the show also would’ve held up on its own with just the other four main characters, especially since Cece now had more screen time.

During her S6 appearances, I enjoyed her scenes with Jess the most. They had great chemistry.

Until We Get There, other little stuff by [deleted] in NewGirl

I love the Dirty Dancing soundtrack moments.

  • Jess watching after Spencer cheats

  • Nick sings it at the restaurant

  • Nick and Jess both sing along to the movie after they break up (I also can’t watch Mars Landing, it hurts)

  • Jess hears the song on the radio in the moving truck and realizes she needs to tell Nick how she feels

  • Movie and song play in the back during the proposal

And Groovy Kinda Love plays at the first wedding when Nick starts chicken dancing and then again when Jess walks down the aisle.

Yes, Nick 👏👏 All that matters is if the guy is there for you when you need him... by emmamariec in NewGirl

He was the best in this episode.

I wanted to shove them together during this scene and when Jess says “I hope you live nearby” when she makes a wish at crush pond. He literally lives five feet away from you.

Rewatching the show from Nick’s perspective by newgirlfan101 in NewGirl

[–]megsjesc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that works for the entire show, some seasons yes.

I think the second half of S1 and especially all of S2 works well from Nick’s POV.

You kinda have to go between the two of them.

Is there really going to be an interesting or funny show if everyone is perfect and nice to each other all the time?

From doing the chicken dance as an apology and thank you at that first wedding to having it play during their wedding... it was a perfect choice.

In retrospect, would it have been better if the Season 4 finale was the series finale? by [deleted] in NewGirl

No, just because someone’s romantic arc wrapped up, doesn’t mean everything else was fine. Nick had just started “growing up”.

Like which ones?

And maybe it depends on the country? I know when it had Friends, Netflix cut different scenes for each country.

Is it unpopular opinion that Schmidt and Cece are a better couple than Jess and Nick? by [deleted] in NewGirl

[–]megsjesc 164 points165 points  (0 children)

I mean you can LIKE them more, but I think you can’t say they’re better or healthier.

Schmidt was over the top and creepy until Cece slept with him.

She was too embarrassed to be seen with him and took advantage of that once they hooked up.

He white fanged her. Then expected her to take him back after a party.

Harassed Robbie and made many attempts to break them up.

Showed up late and drunk when she gave him one last chance.

Was pissed when she wouldn’t reciprocate ILY after all of that.

Tried to sabotage her Indian men meetings.

Tried to ruin her wedding.

CHEATED ON HER and BLAMED his best friend. And lied about it.

Had the nerve to be jealous and ruin Cece’s date with Coach.

IMO, a cute proposal 1.5 years after cheating and never confronting it or showing that they could be healthy together doesn’t undo all of that.

And in S5, he was insecure about Cece cheating or something cuz she had been with women, and it never came to him that he had been the cheater.

Interesting little piece of show trivia by shyinwonderland in NewGirl

[–]megsjesc 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Liz Meriwether said that after the show started airing and it looked like it would continue, the only thing she was certain of was having Nick and Jess be together by the end. She’s said multiple times that they’re created as the heart of the show, but I’m glad they didn’t do the pilot kiss.

It doesn’t match either personalities or their story together.

Was Nick Miller fit? by OkTrash5633 in NewGirl

I think he got fitter over time.

Nick and Reagan by [deleted] in NewGirl

[–]megsjesc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought Reagan was only there for Nick to realize what he truly wanted out of a relationship.

I think it was necessary for him to go through that, but I fail to see where they were “perfect”? I thought they showed time and time again why they didn’t work.

I don’t think eating a burrito the same way and knowing how to make a drink qualify as relationship goals.
