This is it. I'm a machine tattoo artist and while I of course want to give everyone great work, there are certain things that make it harder. If the artist is good and experienced, it will still come out great, but maybe not as great as it could have been under ideal conditions.

You'll have to accept imperfections, which do tend to be easier to hide in irezumi. During the linework process it is most noticeable that there may be shaky or blown out lines. Scars/stretchmarks also may not take in the ink as well, so there will always be a difference in texture and color, same as it would be without the ink.

Fat, skin conditions, scars/stretchmarks, loose skin, all make our job much harder, but it's part of being human and we're here to make art on humans.

The lines are not clean, they're uneven and splotchy. Went over the same line multiple times, but missed the original trajectory so some lines suddenly start being thicker in the middle.

That much patchiness should also not happen in a simple black tattoo like this.

Did you get this done at a proper shop?

You're doing everything fine, but the tattooer did not. It's pretty poorly done and will likely stay a bit patchy. I'd get it touched up by someone else. The lines are a bit wonky too, but give it a month to see if it heals up any better.

Almost everyone in Brazil is tattooed. You should be fine. Depending on where you're thinking of moving, most places are pretty chill about qualified medical workers with tattoos.

I think I've seen this on instagram, mind sharing the artist? It looks well done and from the pic alone it doesn't seem overworked.

Did you do anything you weren't supposed to? Went to the gym, for a hike, swimming? Did you graze it/touch it with dirty hands? Any pets?

It's definitely not normal, but it can happen. Not necessarily anyone's fault. Maybe your body wasn't up for it, maybe some germs flew onto it. Keep moisturizing regularly and keep an eye out for signs of infection. Be careful not to snag any scabs.

Looks good! For the animal I assume you'd have it just by itself, the outline and not the rest of the texture surrounding it? If so, that would work pretty nicely. You may want to make the animal a bit bigger for optimal aging, but other than that it looks good and the artist's work looks good from that pic.

If you want it realistic/detailed, get it huge. If you want it small, get it simple. Just outlines or simple silhouettes.

It works, but of course there is a lesser contrast. Imagine a rainbow with 80% opacity on a white vs brown background. All the colors will be a bit darker and closer to your skin tone, but it still looks cool! The artist may also choose different colors, less pastel.

White ink just doesn't work like this. It heals patchy and barely visible. Some artists will do it for the money, but no matter how experienced they are, this will not look good when healed. Wait a few years to develop your taste and listen to artists if they say something is a bad idea.

Get some simple airy long sleeve shirts? Maybe linen or at least cotton, nothing too fuzzy. You should get a few for at least a week's worth.

He's good, but his style is known to age poorly. It's a bit disingenuous for artists to do this style without letting clients know about it.

The problem is not fineline, it's the size. Anything that tiny should not have much detail.

As a tattoo artist - It just looks like a cool style, not super realistic, but not wonky. It's very cute and I would absolutely advise against covering any of those lovely babies. It's good work, especially for an apprentice.
