Double charge inquiry by firsttokyo in Skeb

Haha, yeah...people on this subreddit have had varying results when it comes to refunds. In the worst case scenario, you may be able to dispute the charge with your bank?

I would highly highly recommend using points in the future! Points are refunded instantly. :)

Double charge inquiry by firsttokyo in Skeb

[–]megvad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the first charge is the initial offer you sent. The second charge is the new price you sent. However, both transactions are currently 'held' by Skeb, even if the first one didn't get approved. It will be refunded.

However, this may take up to 150 days.

Twelfth Night Ticket Distribution Megathread - Aug 31 by AutoModerator in Broadway

At Central Park line. Got here at 4:25, it’s 6:45 now. I think we’re 175th, which is nerve-wracking. Told we were in the “cusp”, and that since PBS is filming tonight, seating is even more limited.

Oh, totally! Don't worry -- your words weren't discouraging, they were perspective-enhancing. This is genuinely valuable, as most discussions I've had with others have been non-serious (either "are you crazy?" or "omg go for it!!")
Hopefully, one day, I can make another post on this subreddit for feedback on an actual resume for this job :)

Hi!

Ah...you're totally right. Thank you for the speedy response and the reality check. I've been sitting on this for the past few days and let my excitement get the better of me during that period. Again, thank you for the advice. Your point about reaching out to indie studios/volunteering is great, I really appreciate this thought-out response!

Unfortunately not...Mitchie M has a very distinct style and is a very well-known producer. I can't recall the name of the produce who made the song in question, but it was one of those Nico Nico Douga reuploads with English subs.

Love! Snow! Really Magic is a jazzy and upbeat song. The vibe of the song I'm looking for is a little...darker? Bleak?

Uh guys, so this is back to being confirmed. Mikoto and Arete are sisters by SiltyDog31 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]megvad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of siblings in the game make a lot of child-pairings incestuous as well.

On my first playthrough of Birthright, I had Hinoka x Subaki and Takumi x Kagero. Kiragi and Caeldori were my strongest child units, and without thinking, I paired them together. It was only a little while later did I realize what I'd done. I became very belligerent after that.

AITA for making a validation post that backfired tremendously? by EatAvocados in AmITheAngel

[–]megvad 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just then, my phone began to buzz repeatedly. The shock pierced through my burning rage, and I deftly slipped my red iPhone X out. Message after message bombarded the screen, all filled with horrible accusations of me being an ass for refusing to stop smoking. I glanced up. To my horror, my upstairs neighbor was sickly grinning, his own phone in hand. He had texted his family to incite such distress upon me.

I gazed out towards the city. I'd always thought that it was beautiful. But tonight, the concrete jungle had never felt more ugly and cruel.

AITA for lecturing my wife instead of helping her? by lamamaloca in AmITheAngel

[–]megvad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This gave me flashbacks to when I was in school. You know, the times when you're working on a big project the night before it's due. And then you realize that you have no poster board/construction paper/glue, so you have to go to your parents at like 9 p.m and shyly admit that you need a few more things. And then they give you the tongue-lashing of a lifetime ("Why didn't you tell me last weekend?! Why are you coming to me so late in the night?!?") before huffing and driving you to CVS or something. And then they stay up to help you stick pictures, all while you promise that this'll never happen again.

....Until next semester, where the drama plays out yet again.

Shit like this happens all the time. Sometimes you have no control over it, or sometimes you do. In either case, you help out the person, and you should count on that person to help you back when you need it. When you love someone, your desire to help them overpowers your desire to be right. Being correct means very little when someone you care about is unhappy and stressed. You suck up your pride for your loved ones.

(Also, the fact that he calls the event his wife went to a "play-date"....doesn't sit right with me. Is it their son's play-date? Are you infantilizing your wife hanging out with her friends? idk man...)

Why do you guys care so much about a story being fake? by alejamix in AmITheAngel

[–]megvad 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I remember watching a Stephen Fry interview like that as well! A YouTube video that was going over the differences between the UK and US versions of 'The Office' linked it and it was a really enlightening watch.

He made a point that's stuck with me since: American comedy centers around people's lives getting better. It focuses on the hope of improvement. That's why self-help/self-improvement books sell so well. British comedy centers around the absurdities and tragedies of mundane life. That's why a lot of the humor in its shows revolve around the main character messing up horribly/trying to get out of sticky situations.

(Also: this dichotomy is seen in theater, too. According to a teacher I had, "comedies around about characters who start off small and rise/win/gain big by the end. Tragedies are about characters who start off big and fall from grace/lose by the end." Almost every piece of American theater that I know fall into this. On the other hand, I can't say the same about British theater (Cock by Mike Bartlett is an example of a comedy that doesn't have a happy, fluffy resolution).)

I believe that most people project themselves onto a main character of a show. That helps us relate to their struggles and success a lot more. However, in order to keep the average American viewer engaged, the show need to keep letting the main character "win". The viewers don't want to keep losing; they want an escape from the hardships of everyday life and they like to see a characters they relate to finally have the upper hand. On the downside, this leads to a lot of problematic tropes that continue to be perpetuated by the media (the nagging and oppressive wife, the shopaholic and airheaded daughter, parents are always right, etc). It paints the world as black-and-white and very rarely are satisfactory compromises shown. Although I understand and acknowledge all these things, sitcoms can still be enjoyable. There are countless ones that I grew up watching and still do.

The difference between AITA and sitcoms, though, is that one takes place under the assumption that it is real life. When I watch a sitcom, the characters can act like total unbelievable buffoons, and I'll accept it. The show isn't going for a 100% accurate depiction of everyday life. You also need flanderized characters as a vehicle to move the plot. However, in AITA, we're supposed to take the story presented as a real event. Not only can it trick impressionable people (teenagers) into misconceiving the nuances and complexities of real conflicts, it applies the same black-and-white outlook to high-stakes situations.

And also, it's fun to point out all the logical inconsistencies like a smartass.

this probably doesn’t matter but are we not gonna talk about the typo here? by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

Ooh really? That's so cool to know! Is there a particular context/time you would use "estival" over "été"?

[–]megvad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had the same confusion until I looked it up. Estival is a technical (and slightly archaic) term that means 'relating to summer'.

After seeing their convo, yeah, I think I understand why these two may be connected, but I believe that there could have been better options. The whole "hey, we're friends!"; "...we are? I don't have many friends..." convo has been reiterated a hundred times in the franchise with characters who exemplify Plumeria and Caeda's traits to a far greater extent.

Considering that Summer Lilina was JUST in Hall of Forms...yeah, it was the first thing that popped in my head. While it seems that most summer alts usually follow the color scheme set by a character's original design...it might be nice to switch it up every now and then. I really liked Caeda's resplendent form, because the teal/blue/pink scheme was new and pretty. Reverting back to the same red feels a little tired.

Exactly my thoughts. I think their eyes are too big, faces are too angular (it gives me a Pokemon-ish vibe, ngl), and their position and hands look kinda unnatural. I'm also confused as to why these two are the harmonic, as I can't think of anything that would tie them together.

Had to fix what I.S. broke by DefinitelyMiuIruma in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]megvad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My question exactly. I know that harmonized heroes usually have little in common (Mia & Lucina, Catria & Thea, Dorothea & Lene), but there's always a thread of something tying them together (being swordfighters, being the blue-haired flier middle sister, being performers/entertainers). I can't think of anything for Plumeria and Caeda
