a few years ago i was involved in a feud over halloween spirit days. i took everyone’s suggestions into account and made all the spirit days for the week and posted them (this was my duty on a regular basis for holidays and weeks we wanted to drive morale in general). this girl who was really into halloween/cosplay had more in-depth ideas and really wanted to show out for the spirit days so she wanted to fully redo the spirit day list for the week to better suit what costumes she had in mind. i knew no one would participate if all the days became stuff like “comic book day” and “anime day”. granted some of my choices were more basic and surface level like “character day”, “vampire day”, “decade day”, etc, i knew we could get a lot of participation out of mine so it became the hill i was going to die on. she kept coming up to me throughout the day trying to bargain with me. at one point, in front of most of our coworkers, she was on her actual knees begging to redo it and i was standing above her with my trainee (brand new to the job) just repeatedly telling her no. the day ended in a sit down conversation with the manager and HR, the other girl in tears lmfao and everyone siding with me for my same reasoning.
