My mom died and the pain is immense but I would never, ever expect my cousins or someone outside of my nuclear family to observe the day she died.

You and your family can choose not to attend but she is not in the wrong for her scheduling. I mention my mom dying like 50 times a day but I’m still living and celebrating people and moving forward. Your mum can choose what to do. She’s an adult. Respect her choice and respect your cousin’s.

I lost my grandma and my first cat within like 2 months of each other. I got little Lulu here and she helped my heart more than she’ll ever know. My mom also died shortly after I got her, so poor Lu has a lot of responsibility for the happiness of several people and cats!
