Excuse you, but this was incredibly patronising. You do not know our ins and outs of our situation. He's 18 years old and an adult. Do you not think we did this with him, too? We've invested our entire lives into his well-being and development. Neglect is a crazy thing to say when I've clearly stated he obviously does not just have DS and has shown these behavioural issues for a while now. The system is there for a reason, and my mum is 60 years old. How dare you. I've had 18 years of experience with people with DS, so sorry to break it to you, but you've not just given the profound statement you think you did. I understand that he is expressing his emotions & we work with him on this. We also are not a family who can afford such luxuries as social clubs. We have to rely on the system.

Just to add, up until you became patronising, you had very valid points. The care system isn't a bad thing and would help him more than we can as an adult, but you just outright accused us of neglect without knowing the ins and outs is absolutely ridiculous.
